Fashion Distraction: Zac Posen Fall 2009
I’m pretty torn on Zac Posen’s Fall 2009 show. I LOVED the Steinway pianos on the catwalk. And, the idea of merging two classic eras (Victorian and the 1940’s) for a sort of ‘art-gallery’ collection. But, the actual designs fell short of the concept. Some I love, some are just so over the top, they look more like theater costumes than fashion real women (or even celebs on the red carpet) would actually wear. Posen went all out this season with huge ruffles, lots of draping, flowy evening gowns, lamé, metallics, silks, pouffy sleeves and plunging necklines. Definitely fun for playing dress up, but not so much for the workplace, cocktail parties or the occasional black tie affair.
