Zach Braff Combats Twitter Suicide Rumor with YouTube Video

Yesterday awful rumors swirled around Twitter that comedian Zach Braff had taken his own life by overdosing on pain pills, but it turned out it was only some guy's practical joke from a long time ago. We don't really think it's too funny either, but, hey, it takes all kinds. Anyway, the post was discovered by someone poking around and it took off, thanks to the magic of the Internet, and the rest went down in YouTube history.

Braff taped a pretty funny video response to the rumor and slapped it up, and probably even generated some good buzz for himself. He seems to take the whole thing pretty well, and goes as far as to correct the post about the way he'd actually choose to kill himself: "I would do it the way that everyone else would do it—by hitting myself with pots and pans," he says on the video. Well, duh.

He also says: "I'm alive. I'm here at Scrubs shooting the new Scrubs title sequence which is a little bit like dying, so I guess that was semi-accurate."

The video finishes with the actor explaining how he would like an R&B rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings" sung at his real funeral, then co-star Donald Faison pops on the screen and delivers.

The Twitter user Chris Laganella took down the post and instead pasted up a huge explanation about how he really likes Zach Braff and never thought anyone would see the tweet, let alone everyone on the Internet, and was so sorry for upsetting his mom. We think he was just mostly thankful he picked a funny, forgiving celebrity to pull this about. He wrote: "Thanks for (apparently) taking it lightly, since I haven't gotten a letter about a lawsuit yet."
