Happy Memorial Day! While you enjoy your three day weekend and the kick-off of the summer season, let us not forget what this day is about and pay gratitude and respect to the people who have made sacrifices in the name of this great country. In honor of Memorial Day, I’d like to recognize one hell of a soldier who really loves New York. I found this photo yesterday of a 19-year-old solider from Texas who was caught with his pants down….while in combat. Ok, that sounds scandalous, but the reason I am mentioning this story is to show the dedication of our soldiers. ... Read Full Story

The soldier who was photographed fighting the Taliban in his boxer shorts says he's glad to be back home in Texas after his yearlong deployment to Afghanistan — especially on the Fourth of July. Specialist Zachary Boyd says he initially thought he'd get in trouble after an Associated Press photo showed him with other soldiers behind sandbags — while wearing his pink boxers and flip-flops, plus his helmet and bulletproof vest. The Fort Worth soldier said he had jumped up from a nap when his unit came under fire and didn't want to waste time putting on his uniform. But Boyd has been praised ... Read Full Story

Regardless of your views on the war(s), you have to admit this is pretty cool. Zachary Boyd , Army First Battalion, 26th Infantry, was in his sleeping quarters when his team started taking on Taliban fire. He reportedly leapt up like a jungle cat, threw on his helmet and vest and took his position next to his fellow soldiers in flip flops and pink boxers. In a word: Rad. For the record, they say, "I love NY" on them and he's in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan's Kunar Province, a notoriously active region. Associated Press photographer David Guttenfelder was there and captured the moment ... Read Full Story
