General Membership Guidelines
Zimbio's membership guidelines are always a work in progress. If you have suggestions, please let us know.
General Membership Guidelines
- Respect other members. Please.... no personal attacks, no threats, try not to be rude. Treat others as you would have them treat you.
- Make positive contributions. Add, edit, rate, and delete content in order to ease the burden of your fellow travelers. Help us make Zimbio a valuable and interesting website.
- Be accountable. Take credit. Be who you are. Don’t set up lots of puppet accounts. Don’t remain anonymous.
- Actions speak louder than words. If you see a problem, fix it. If you make a mistake, revert it.
- Vandalism sucks. Spam sucks. Self promotion sucks. Please don’t do these things on Zimbio.
- Keep it clean. No NC-17 rated content please. Aim for PG-13.
- Editors set the agenda. Opinions are encouraged on Zimbio. If there are content disputes, Editors can intervene. If you want to surface a different point of view and the Editor won’t let you, start a new zine with that alternative point of view.
- “Stay cool”. Try to resolve disputes within the community and not get angry about inappropriate member behavior. If something is a well-intentioned error, correct it without just deleting it. If you can, help mediate disagreements between other members.
- Participate. Everyone has something to add and we hope you give it a try.
- Share. Share knowledge. Share ideas. Share links and photos. Share responsibility for the zines that you create.
- Keep it readable. Post headlines and titles that make sense to people and avoid over-capitalization or punctuation.
- Be Patient. It takes some time for a zine to gain critical mass. Eventually you’ll start to see "the signal from the noise"…but it might take a little while for this to happen.
