This house mouse (Mus musculus) made a visit to my home and got himself stuck in the kitchen sink. Being the critter lover that I am, I just couldn't kill him, so I picked him up and took him outside. I'm sure he came back inside at some point. In this picture, Mr. Mus has a wrapper from a cheese slice. In reality, mice prefer grains and sweets over cheese. They are both nocturnal and social animals. If you see one in your house, chances are there are a lot more. They breed quickly. One...Read Full Story

My other half (the Northerner) was most unimpressed and was wondering how many days...Read Full Story
People have always been fascinated by bats, but the scope of that interest generally is limited to how bats fly and their bizarre habit of sleeping upside down. These unbelievable marine animals exist and they inhabit the oceanic depths, of which we have only explored a tiny fraction. They're a great mystery of the deep oceans.
