They say you can't judge a book by its cover. Deka Kyoshi, a new shonen manga series by Tamio Baba from CMX Manga provides a good example of this truism. With its cryptic title and innocuous cover art, Deka Kyoshi is a series that's actually a lot more interesting than its cover would suggest.

Both are pretty laid back & very surreal (One is steampunk & the other is technofantasy). They are about a single person who travels with a talking nonhuman companion. They visit many strange & different towns & get caught up the the mysteries, drama, & tragedy, then they move on to the next place. Because they will never return to a place they have been before, they try to stay detached from people, so their personalities are aloof...
