Gwyneth Paltrow joins The Danish Girl

Gwyneth Paltrow has signed on to The Danish Girl, a film chronicling the real-life story of the world’s first transgender male to female, Lily Elbe. Nicole Kidman will play Lily (born Einar). It will be directed by  Tomas Alfredson. Screenplay by Lucinda Coxon. Now who’s going to play Poul?

Based on David Ebershoff ’s book.

Einar meets and marries Gerda Gottlieb at art school. Einar becomes Lily. The King of Denmark invalidated the Wegeners’ marriage in October 1930. Lily meets and falls in love with Poul Knudsen. Lily in 1931 died due to complications three months after her fifth and last operation to have a child.
