The age old traditional dance where the couple face each other through the steps is the Waltz. All Waltz start with a closed position where the man's left arm extends to hold the lady's right hand. The man's right hand goes under the lady's left arm and the lady's left hand goes over his shoulder. This is the basic opening step, thereafter the man leads and the lady follows.
The dance is all about togetherness, so at any time, you can move just one feet backwards or sideways. The togetherness and grace comes out with the beautiful music as you glide your way around the dance floor. The gliding in any of the four directions should be gentle. This is done by pushing and pull your partner either towards or away from you using your hands and body.
Remember, that your movements and your partner's movements should be synchronized and match the pace of the music. . Try to feel the music with the dance, the emotions and steps will come naturally. When you learn how to dance the waltz, you'll naturally feel the gracefulness of the dance movements.
The instructions and steps given during most dance lessons are easy to understand.Pause every now and then to give you the extra time to really lean the movement. The music you choose should be melodious and orchestral. If you already have enough practice with the basic steps, go on to the next level.
