From:  iphone-chat.org
So I have had the iphone since it originally came out and have upgraded everytime a newwer one comes out, which is getting more expensive since I wasnt eligible to buy the 3Gs for the $199 price, and I still dont understand why Apple hasnt added an option to make your own text tones. But you dont let us change the text? The... Read Full Story

3.1.2-Phone finally responsive yay . Visual voicemail hosed. boo iPhone 3G

From:  iphone-chat.org
Had been having constant coma issues with 3.1, so upgraded to 3.1.2 the moment it popped up on my screen. Things seem zippier and more responsive, and so far no comas (fingers crossed)HOWEVER. I realized recently that ever since I updated the carrier file with 3.1, I had not actually received any visual voicemail, in spite of the fact that people have indeed left me messages. (I often use the phone interface for messages, since visual voicemail has always been kinda flakey, so I hadnt thought... Read Full Story

It looks like the arrival of the iPhone on Orange and Vodafone could have a second, initially unnoticed, benefit… O2 is considering changing its position on unlocking iPhones at the end of a user’s contract. Previously the network had no need/obligation to legally unlock the handsets since it was the sole network to offer them. Now the Orange and Vodafone deals mean O2 could come under extreme pressure once a user completes their contract. Speaking to The Register an O2 spokesperson... Read Full Story

Sent to you by Bill B via Google Reader: Apple Taking More Active Role In iPhone 3.1 Battery Life Troubleshooting [Apple] via Gizmodo by Jack Loftus on 9/20/09 Sure, the iPhone 3.1 update delivered a host of new features, including the exceptionally tardy MMS, but for some users there was something extra: Crappy battery life. Today, however, Apple seems to be taking steps to address the issue, starting with a new list of 11 questions that run the gamut from asking about push... Read Full Story

HTC Leo looking confirmed for O2 UK debut, will be free on the right plan

If you needed another reason to frown upon the state of the North American wireless industry, allow us to go ahead and turn your attention to Exhibit A here. What you're looking at is some promotional material backing up earlier rumors that the HD2 / Leo is en route to O2 in the UK , but what's especially upsetting (though not terribly surprising) is the knowledge that customers will be able to scoop up HTC's new ultra-high-end WinMo beast for zilch on an O2 1200 tariff -- a plan that runs... Re: [apple-iphone] Apple iphone/ipod

Yup - same thing with Podcasts - I seriously think this has to do with the "back office" coding of adding the "Store" to the phone. Previous to 3.0 iTunes on the computer (that you synced with) was the "clearing house" for everything - even purchases made on the iPhone were not actually "completed" until you synced it back to iTunes (yes your account / credit card/ whatever was charged at as soon as you hit 'buy' - not what I am talking about) the actual database addition that said Bill...
