Hello Apple-iphone, I have an iPhone 3G, with 3.0 software. When I try to pair the headphone, it works well. I can also hear the other party well, but they don't hear me well, which is a problem in communication. The headphone is a Nokia, but that shoudn't matter, as any brand will use the Bluetooth protocol, I would think. Another important functionality I need from Bluetooth is thethering: I put the phone near the the laptop, and I connnect to the internet on the laptop by using a dial... Read Full Story
Sid, Jailbreaking and Unlocking are two very different things, although the two newest software unlocks require that you jail break first in order to use them. Also note, that this is (in the US) is only going to work if she has T-Mobile instead of AT&T and then she will only be able to use EDGE level speeds so it really doesn't matter if you get her a 1st Gen or 3G other than the BT & GPS enhancements. Apple’s latest attempt to put off consumers from jailbreaking their iPhones claims that “jailbroken iPhones could be used to attack and disable cell-towers”, this is said to be possible as by hacking the iPhone it could allow hackers to see the “code which controls how the iPhone connects to a cellular network”.
Personally I think the claim is more to do with the fact that Apple do not want their iPhones jailbroken as it seems to violate the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) of 1998... Read Full Story
Random Feed wrote an interesting post today on Here’s a quick excerpt Jailbreaking has been around for quite some time, but it has recently seen a upswing in popularity. According to a study from Pinch Media, about 8.43% of iPhone users have jailbroken their iPhones, compared to 91.57% of users who have not jailbroken their iPhones that number seens quite small. But when you think of the millions of iPhones that have been sold, that 8.43% starts to add up, and may be a growing concern for... Read Full Story
Have you had a chance to use MobileNavigator much? I have a stand-alone Navigon (which I really like) and I saw that the app is pretty much the same. Seems like a pretty good deal, assuming you have a nice way to hold the iPhone with a clear view of the sky. I was a bit surprised that they came out with the North American version of the app, given that they've pulled all their standalone hardware out of the US. Hi, My daughter is wanting an ipod touch and already has a mobile phone. Rather than carry two devices I'm considering getting her an iphone from ebay for much the same price as a new ipod touch. If the iphone is unlocked then she can slip in her sim card and away she goes effectively with a phone and an ipod touch for the same money right? Am I missing anything? Also, I have an iphone 3g at the moment but have never jailbroken it. If I buy a jailbroken phone do I have to be aware of... Read Full Story
