The Goddess In You is a home for and a community of women around the world - who all share the same dreams, fears, idiosyncrasies and everyday madness. This site is about women and for women - those of you who are single, married, exploring options or simply not interested in the opposite sex. Do you find yourself being overly trusting towards the wrong people? People who take advantage of you, manipulate you and abuse you? Unfortunately, this is sad and common experience of those of us with low self confidence. We often fall for flattery, charm and someone who is initially nice to us, only to find out later that it was all an act and that our judgement was impaired. At that point, we not only have do deal with feelings of rejection, hurt and despair, but also feelings of "how could I be so stupid?" We ridicule and punish ourselves for being so dumb and for ... There seems to be a polarization of emotions these days about the results people are getting.  Some people are feeling awesome with how the year is going, and others are feeling…well, crappy. There isn’t much in between.  Let’s learn from those who are feeling great. And if you’re on of those people, please keep reading because: 1. you can post great comments for everyone, and 2. if you don’t keep doing these things, you won’t be feeling great for very long! We are two authors who don’t like what we look like naked – that’s why we chose book writing vs. pole dancing as an occupation.” So say Laura Banks and Janette Barber, authors of Embracing Your Big Fat Ass, an Owner’s Manual. (Atria Books, 2008). Certainly our successful careers as writers and performers wouldn’t suggest low self esteem issues but in fact, we do hate standing in front of a mirror naked. Our poor body image issues led us to write our latest book and we feel better and better about our back forty every day! We say why hate the size your ass? ... Read Full Story

No matter where we go, we stand out like Mutt n’ Jeff. At 5’11” Laura is too tall, a bit too imperfectly wide, and altogether large as a person. At 5’3” Janette is large yet small at the same time. (You should have seen us on the Tyra Banks Show. Janette was in the middle with Laura on one side and Tyra on the other…Janette almost sprained her neck.)  It’s our height difference and our different body types and attitudes about it that make us such a perfect match. Laura forever obsesses about those last five to ten pounds while Janette rarely thinks about ... Read Full Story

&# 8220 ; Confidence is knowledge of yourself.” Here’s my definition of confidence, which leads to how you can build your confidence: “Confidence is knowledge of yourself”. When you have done something well a hundred times you have built knowledge in your ability and therefore you won’t think twice about doing it again. This lack of contemplating how to perform a skill is because you know your ability and are confident. Building confidence, then, is to have knowledge of doing something well. Building confidence can be done in a number of ways. The traditional way is to try, fail, try, learn, try, succeed… in ... Read Full Story
