Chapter Twenty-Six--In Conclusion...
We've had a lot of changes at IYN, so I've been too busy to post here much. Some of the information is even outdated, but it still makes a nice story for those who want to go back in time to the beginning of IYN.
But I've decided to draw this blog to a close and replace it with a more current one called My Helping Hand Journal. I've become better at blogging and the Internet in general, so it will be a more professional-looking presentation that is fitting to how far we've come!
I've also been seriously-ill and was diagnosed with an incurable-but-manageable condition called Lymphedema. Now that it has been officially-diagnosed and being treated properly, I'm feeling so much better!
In fact, I didn't even realize how sick I was until my health improved. It just kinda snuck up on me. But I'll be writing more on that eventually and will post a link to it over in my new blog when I have something written about it.
The grand-opening entry in my new blog is called I've Known This Man For Almost Three Years! and it makes for an interesting read. Russell and I will, indeed, be celebrating the third anniversary of when we first met this coming January 15, 2010!
During this time, I've been both a helpmate and a headache to him.
One thing that has frustrated him the most was trying to find a place where I fit into the administration. I'm a writer and not an administrator, so it seemed that, no matter where he put me, I only fit the title he gave me in a limited way. There are plenty of others out there who could do my assignments so much better.
Russell and I discussed this here recently, and he asked me if I had any ideas. I asked him to promise not to get mad if I suggested something that described where I fit into the scheme of things. What I was about to suggest might make me seem a bit too big for my britches, but it turned out that he had been thinking along the same lines.
What kind of title do you give a Jill of all trades and (other than writing) a master of none?
I'm a personal friend who shares his concern for young people who are falling through society's cracks, and I don't do too shabby of a job of writing about this. But there's no real administrative title to go with that sort of job description.
But the title that I ended up with goes back to those times when we would talk for hours on the phone about how to reach out to these children, teens, and young adults who needed so much.
It goes back to those times when I joined him in getting the word out to others about this need.
IYN still has a long way to go, but it has really grown and is known about on every continent on this third rock from the sun!
As I mentioned earlier in this blog, there's this song by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston called It Takes Two, and that has always reminded me of those early days of having a dream and making those plans one-on-one to make it come true.
If I had it to do over again, I'd definitely do it again--though with more of the 20/20 hindsight.
Or, perhaps, it might be wise not to change a thing, even if it made things happen faster, because it's quite likely that IYN is being rolled out in God's good timing that isn't necessarily our own.
I wonder where we'll be in our mission by the time that three more years have passed...
