Just as jingling your keys tells your dog that you’re leaving, you can choose a cue to say you’ll be back soon. When you leave the house for short durations, such as to take out the garbage or get the mail, say “Be right back!” to your dog. Eventually, he or she will associate this phrase with a short absence. This can help soothe dogs who don’t like to be left alone. Other cues, such as turning on the radio or jingling a bell, will work too. Just be consistent with the cue and only use it... by Eric Goebelbecker, Owner,  Dog Spelled Forward What’s the difference between a “bribe” and a reward? A bribe is something your dogs sees before she does what you ask. Keep your treats out of sight until after you get the behavior you are asking for. Read Full Story

When walking your dog, you must remain in the leadership position, which means walking in front of your dog, or having him next to you. But, never let the dog be in front – that’s him leading you. Walk in and out of the house first while your dog remains behind or next to you. Step off and onto the curb before your dog. Show him that you are there to provide protection and direction. Also, make sure to use a short  leash  so you can maintain control in any situation. Part of my Pack.  Good... Read Full Story

Collars can do damage to your dog’s neck  over the years. An easy way to prevent the damage is to attach your dog’s leash to a harness instead of a collar. If your dog pulls a lot on leash, a harness is a better option. Once your dog understands how to walk politely on leash, you can  simply walk your dog in a regular body harness.
