“Fog along the Ohio”

Trying to keep up with my postings so I dug out a file from last fall.  I shot this image along the river walk in Madison Indiana , the city has put in a wonderful river walk along the shore of the Ohio River which has become quite an attraction for both visitors and inhabitants of Southeastern Indiana.  Not only is it a great place to walk, run or bike, but just a stroll down the brick laid walkway is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. The walk overlooks the river and has many... Read Full Story

Getting out of my truck I could hear the ghostly wail of a barges fog horn somewhere in the distance churning down the fog shrouded Ohio River , I walked along an abandoned railroad track , camera equipment in tow looking for something that would catch my eye and give me a photographic opportunity. As the train track veered away from me and led up a steep incline into a tree lined near vertical gorge I  traveled down and under the track and peered into  a incredible pre-civil war railroad... The one thing I love most about wedding photography is the hunt, and by that I mean not just the traditional family pose and whatnot, but the emotion filled image that doesn’t always come around often in other life events. And trying to capture these images is like a hunt, you have to stake out the game and then be there when they pass thru the sights this shot my not ever happen again, so you better be ready and have a steady hand. I try my best to nail these images for the clients, I... Read Full Story
“Madison Indiana Tourism”

Two months from now the woods and canyons that surround Madison Indiana will transform from the dark bleak environment that we have lived with for the last few months, into a display of color and fragrance that makes it hard to even believe that it is the same area that we live in. I still believe that this part of Southeastern Indiana with it’s many waterfalls and unique geographic features is the most under utilized area for tourism in the Midwest , I have traveled and hiked some of the... I have a little time today to post so here it is, shot this in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, love the surreal feel in this and how it seems the stream travels on thru the fog. This is the part of photography I miss, I love my portrait business here in Madison Indiana but hopefully after I retire from my job I will be able to make more time for this part of my work.  As for the coaching part Lord only knows how long I can take that part of my life, great kids and extremely talented... I find it harder and harder to post to this blog anymore  or any of my blogs for that matter, business has been great with the portrait part of my photography but the part I miss the most is the nature side. But that is the side that pays the bills, so I guess I better be careful what I wish for lol !! Portrait photography has actually been wonderful to do so far, I haven’t ran into that so called Bridezilla or meddling mother yet so I can’t complain too much on that front it’s just being... I thought I might share a hidden treasure from here in Madison Indiana, a friend of mine has steadily been building  quite a reputation  with his West Street Art Center, the gallery has been hosting artists from all over the region  and the shows he has promoted have been a wonderful success for artists that grace the walls of this unique and beautiful facility. Peter Ellis is the owner operator and in his short stint as the gallery curator he has brought a diverse  mix of mediums to the... Read Full Story

Just now recovering from a great wedding shoot from a feww days ago, got to spend great deal of time shooting around a large industrial area here in Madison Indiana , and the images so far have been really cool. This was a perfect opportunity for a b&w conversion, I love the stark contrast between the beautiful bride and the rusted deteriorating look of the train cars and track. I still like the posed family and wedding party pics, but you just can’t beat the fun pics you can have on your... Read Full Story

Thought I might share another photo, this time a wildflower from early spring, early spring wildflowers seems like an eternity ago now but here it goes anyway. I shot this beautiful little wildflower in Clifty Falls State Park near Madison Indiana along one of the trails that crisscross the park. Blue Eyed Mary’s are one of my favorite wildflowers to shoot because of the beautiful blue color and also the small delicate structure of the plant make it a great subject as well. These wonderful...
