Southwark Cathedral
Southwark Cathedral and the cathedral and collegiate church of St Mary and savior Overie, Southwark, London St, lying on the south bank of the River Thames near London Bridge. Not to be confused with San Jorge Catholic near the ’s Cathedral, Southwark. It is the mother church of the Anglican diocese of Southwark. Has been a place of Christian worship for over 1000 years, but only a cathedral since 1905. The present building is mainly Gothic, starting between 1220 and 1420. The main line railway station to London Bridge Station Street canyon passes near the cathedral, blocking the view from the south side. The city market and the Hall of the Worshipful Company of glaziers and glass painters of the river are in the immediate neighborhood. London city vacations.
