Food Is An Activist's Choice

Being green means thinking about things you never thought about before, thinking about processes, and then making decisions. The false choice of 'Paper or plastic?' (bring a reusable cotton bag) is preceded by choosing to buy or not to buy, if buying then what to buy.

One daily choice we all face is 'what's to eat?' The answer is simple - something from sustainable agriculture. The action is more difficult, leading to more questions - what and where? Fortunately there are websites to assist everyone.

Community supported agriculture farms are a great place to start. Farmer's markets, community gardens, roadside stands, pick your own farms, all these just scream "Fresh!"

Foodroutes is an organization which will help you make the same choices food co-ops make. Ask for sustainable food at restaurants and stores. Create that demand!

If you are into meat, check out Eatwild.com for producers who raise livestock on pasture.
