It is a relatively mute subject. You either have the time to SEO your own site, or you don’t. Most business people I have had the opportunity to work with over the years all have the same mindset which is to let a professional do the work to their website. They will run their business. Not everyone has the time to take on extra tasks to market, or create and maintain, they websites. They are busy running their businesses.
But this doesn’t pertain to everyone. There are a lot of sm... Read Full Story

Blogging has come a long way over the past few years. We have seen it rise from nothing (or more appropriately, pieces of many different online communication methods) to arguably the most used facet of online communications.
How does a blog help your site? Google loves blogs and this is something that every successful blogger knows. I can’t explain why, other than the algorithm lends importance to blogs, a blog listing often makes it to the SERPs quicker than a similar web page will. W... Read Full Story

Social Networking, Social Media Marketing, by any other name … it is all the same.
Today, as with any other day on the internet … things have changed. Today we are finding that social networking is one of the more important parts of SEO and for a very basic reason … it works.
Well, actually, probably, a few reasons … but two stand out.
One, Google likes social media sites as much as they like blogs. This is important. Second, postings add inbound links to your site.
Th... Read Full Story

It came to my attention recently that some of my newer clients had no idea of where they stood in the SERPs for their site. They had no analytics software on their sites. All they ever did was type their keywords into Google and then go through the SERPs, page by page, until they found their listing. Times consuming … yes, effective … not really.
Having analytics on your site let’s you see where you stand in the big picture. You’ll see traffic statistics, in many cases... Read Full Story

In talking with other business people who are running online stores, or other types of sites with the end result to make money I inevitably get asked how they can learn what to do themselves.
This is what put me onto SEO training in the first place.
Well, of course my course … LOL … don’t you love the English language! … will teach you what you need to know to do this job yourself. Another good thing to do is subscribe to the SEO Tips newsletter. You can easily do that... Read Full Story

You mean … on an island offshore? At the beach? I don’t get it?!?
Actually, I do, and the phrase is referring to SEO firms located in a different country, and time zone.
I haven’t been too active here on my own blog, just can’t seem to find the time, but I’m looking to spend more time here and trying to rearrange my schedule to allow it.
I saw a posting that it was better to hire XYZ SEO Co., from India, than it was to hire an American SEO firm. The argument was ... Read Full Story

I read a posting somewhere recently asking the question “Can Link Bait Hurt my Site”?
Well, this is really a plain stupid question.
Let’s define “Link Bait”. Link bait is the act of placing content on your site. The whole idea is to get another webmaster to link to that content, so it goes without question that you are adding valuable content to your site … content that is worthwhile to link to.
So, of course it is a good idea to add “link bait”... Read Full Story

I had a client ask me this question recently. The answer is pretty simple really … and all in all it’s for a very good reason.
Authority.
It seems to all boil down to authority, or … importance … or whatever word you want to give to it … it’s the main reason “why” your website is ranked where it is.
Let’s trip back when Google first appeared on the scene. The search world was pretty much awash in irrelevant search engine results. You could... Read Full Story

I had this blog going quite a while back. I had some problem arise, I’m not even sure what it was anymore. The bottom line is that I lost all the postings I had done to that point.
I was very busy at the time and finding the time to remedy the situation, and reinstate the blog, just wasn’t there.
Not that I’m not busy now … but I will be getting this blog to be active again. Read Full Story
