Moving along the riverbed, my friend's keen eyes
survey the re-sculpted landscape. Trees
throw their other-half shadows over the
snowy field. Looking for fish to rise!
Rise up! Greet the surface, expanding
concentric circles outward, to touch
the edges of hardened mud, stones
strewn, crackle-decayed leaves.
Where do the fish hide?
And how can my shadow-side hide
from the glinting sunlight that shows me
last night's snow fall, each flake
sparkles to its own delight.
