Peabody River

Great river this time of year, the dry fly action is sweet and the gin clear waters allow you to see the whole process take place before your eyes.

The goal was to fish a little over a river mile to the junction pool, but the weather had different plans for us.

This sections of the river is pocket water heaven….

I love fishing upstream, but downstream has it’s advantages as well, far easier to skate flys. We hit lots of brookies and bows in the smallish size. I hiked upstream a bit before hitting the lower levels that held larger fish. I’ve never fish this section and wanted to familiarize myself by covering some serious ground.

The rainbows have amazing pale colors, almost unrecognizable as a bow…

I had a fishing pal with me, but she has deiced she does not want her pic taken any more, so I snapped one in secret

All was going great until the flash of lightning arrived and it was a dash back to the car with the rods broken down…

So did some business in town and had a short window open up and hit my perch on the Andro…Hooked up with bass right away.

Picked up a few this size and a bunch of small…Doubles even

Bait…

Rain picked up again and it was time to head home……Peabody to be continued……
