Young Blood…

I was scheduled to take care of some car stuff up by north this Friday and I got a call from a pal who frequents Moody Pond.  His name is Toby and he’s hooked on fly fishing.

A little background, Toby is new to fly fishing and has fished the pond with me and on his own a number of times.  The kid is a natural to say the least.  He’s caught a number of fish when no one else was catching on Moody.

Toby had never fished the Androscoggin River or has experienced wade fishing in waders so when I got his call early Friday AM for fishing Moody I suggested he come up north with another buddy and I.

SURE, I’ll be over in 15 mi, LOL

So he arrived with gear, backup clothing, rain gear, snacks, food and water. :alright:  I had plenty of wading gear to outfit him for the day.

We get up North to pick up our car, but we have to wait a bit in the waiting room and as any kid would, he went for the donuts and hot cocoa.

Get our car, transfer our gear and we are told that they are cooking burgers and dogs at the other end for customer appreciation day.  I look at Toby who just finished his second or third donut and asked “are you hungry?”.  Stupid question  :lols:

So we get out and walk up to the grill and Toby says ” This place is a hobo’s dream”, 

After our burgers we were off to Pontook Dam area.  Since the fishing has been mediocre in the lower stretches we figured we would try a bit further north.

The foliage is dam near peak and is peak in Pinkham Notch, stunning day!

Down river Toby tags into a nice fish….

His first Andro bow, it was a native - gorgeous fins with delicate white tips…

We all got into a few fish, but we were more about getting him the full experience.

Hated to tell him it was time to go, but when I did he gave one last look to take it all in.

Nothing can make me feel better than introducing this great sport to someone else!!!
