Days Didn't Always Pass so Fast
Back in the 1950's and 1960's I was just a kid, and then a teenager. I discovered television, and Roy Rogers, and all the other television cowboys.
I discovered the ten-cent Saturday matinee, which featured TWO movies and a cartoon, a newsreel and an adventure serial, with a new episode each week. What a great bargain!
I discovered Rhonda Fleming and my love for redheads dates from that young age. Wow.
I loved the singing of Doris Day. I don't even remember any other singers from those days.
We graduated and went into the military service before we could be drafted. Vietnam shaped our Worldview, not just at the time, but still now, over 40 years later.
Those were two very difficult decades, the 50's and 60's, and we were later to discover just how difficult life was yet to become, and now we look back with great nostalgia at those years of relative innocence.
Now, in retrospect, I wish I had lived a more adventurous life while I still could. I have reached my late middle age, now 62, with many regrets, and the days just seem to ZIP BY!
