I’ve heard about the website that helps you find unclaimed money. I thought, yeah right, must be a hoax. I decided to check it out because I heard about it on the radio, so maybe it’s legit. This site is run by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators. The site says they represent state governments that actively find owners while protecting forgotten funds until claimed.
Facts About Unclaimed Property: Every state has unclaimed property, as well as Puerto... Read Full Story
Whether it’s at the grocery store check-out line or an email in my inbox, people are always asking me how to use coupons. Several months ago I felt like the Lord really wanted me to teach others about this. Even though there are many other (and more talented) couponers teaching classes out there I felt like I could offer a different perspective– using coupons to give more.
Over the past seven months I’ve tracked my charitable giving of food and toiletries and it turns o... Read Full Story
When I found this list of dropouts it certainly surprised me. Some of the nation’s most successful and famous didn’t even finish high school or college and still made a name for themselves. While college is still important in this day and age to land a great job, some tend to be lucky and succeed without a degree.
Bill Gates: Everyone knows this name. He’s named one of the world’s richest people year after year in Forbes magazine and co-founded Microsoft. This brain... Read Full Story
Why do we only celebrate anniversaries to the day? Why not celebrate being married two years, two months and two days? So that’s what I’m doing. In honor of our two-year-two-month-two-day-iversary here are 22 things I love about my husband (in no particular order):
1. His Irish accent, which by the way was voted the sexiest accent in the world.
2. How excited he gets about the silly things that make me excited like finding a good deal on toothpaste.
3. His love of travel and tryin... Read Full Story
Last night I held my first coupon class at my church, LifePoint. About 20 people turned out to learn how to save more and give more than they’ve ever done before. My main goal was to encourage and inspire people to turn something as seemingly routine as grocery shopping into a task that can bless others and serve God. I’ve been thinking about teaching a class for a while now. But it wasn’t until my church recently brought in two big bins for us to fill up with food to give M... Read Full Story
This week we travel to a farm in Kentucky for our Twitter Tuesday Profile. Katie Hostetter, also known as @FrugalFemina, is a pastor’s wife and stay-at-home mom to her little munchkin Bradley. She lives in a little cabin on a Kentucky farm with her family which also includes two rescued pets– a black lab named Casey and Riley the cat. She owes her coupon addiction to Stephanie, the woman behind CouponMom.com. Stephanie’s appearance on Oprah a few years ago sparked Katie... Read Full Story
Friday, Nov. 27 is the day for shopping. It’s Black Friday when everyone seems to show up at malls and shops around town. They wait in lines for hours and some end of fighting over toys as the sale items disappear off the shelves. I found several Black Friday websites that might be helpful. Black Friday is only 12 days away!
Black Friday Ads: This site has daily updates on hot deals (not just on Black Friday) at major retailers. For example, Wal-Mart started its Holiday Value Bundle... Read Full Story

I met with Steve Brandt, president and publisher of The Greenville News. He wanted to see what I found in my attic and unravel the mystery a little bit more for me. I showed him what I discovered among the rafters and dusty insulation. He told me they are newspaper mat molds. Back in the early to mid 1900’s newspapers were printed using hot metal typesetting, also known as hot lead typesetting. Brass negative molds were laid out on a big tray to create the stories. A piece of moist card... Read Full Story
