Move On, Hillary
From:  blogezine.com
I am a great believer in the democratic process, but am quick losing my faith with the Democratic Party. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not about to jump into the McCain camp, nor am I going to be one of those disenchanted Democrats who will just choose not to vote. No matter who wins the nomination, I am going to wholeheartedly support their candidacy. This election means way too much. A McCain presidency would: * Imbalance the Supreme Court for the next 40 years * Leave us in Iraq for ... Read Full Story
Blood and Treasure
From:  blogezine.com
The war in Iraq is a debacle. We have turned Iraq into an incubator for terrorists. We have emboldened Iran. To many, it looks like a war we can’t win. Sure sounds like the rantings of a liberal pundit or a Democratic Party candidate, doesn’t it? Only these are the views of the National Defense University- a research branch of the Department of Defense. These are the words of Jim Collins, a senior Pentagon official and key advisor to Donsald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz. This week,... Read Full Story
Iraq: Denial and Deception
From:  blogezine.com
Take a long, hard look at the headline to this story. If it doesn’t sound familiar, it should. This was the title of the speech George W. Bush delivered on October 7, 2002. It was the speech Bush made outlining our reasons for going to war with Iraq. The profound irony of this title will be seen in the excerpts that follow: * (Iraq) possesses and produces chemical and biological weapons. * (Iraq) is seeking nuclear weapons. *  The Iraqi dictator must not be permitted to threaten Americ... A Mockery? Not Even Debatable
From:  blogezine.com
I have precious little faith in the American political process. In the last few presidential elections, we have seen hanging chads, Swift Boat sucker-punches, tainted voting machines, and a Supreme Court happy to choose our president for us. But, last night’s debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama may have established a new low. Sure, elections can get nasty. We have come to expect things like lies, sabotage, and back-stabbing from political machines. But when a major news netw... Read Full Story
Death and Taxes
From:  blogezine.com
Nobody likes paying taxes. I know I’m not going to get much of an argument on that one. But paying taxes that fund a George Bush budget… it’s just too painful for words. The same week I sent in my 1040 I had a chance to read a report from The National Priorities Project called: Where Do Your Tax Dollars Go? This may be the most depressing thing I’ve read since The Bell Jar. According to the report, here’s how each tax dollar is spent: * A Staggering 42.2 cents (n... Read Full Story
A Capitol Offense: Bush and the Death Penalty
From:  blogezine.com
About the only thing that puts a smile on George Bush’s face these days is the performance of his Supreme Court. Once a co-equal branch of our federal government, the Supreme Court is now Bush’s personal toy. The Justice Department, which has a way of going after Democrats and liberal causes, serves up cases on a platter and the Supreme Court gladly puts their ultra-conservative stamp on them (disregarding such inconvenient standards as constitutionality or precedent). The love af... Read Full Story
Hillary’s Dilemma: Guns, Votes and Virginia Tech
From:  blogezine.com
Tonight, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will face off in their final debate prior to the Pennsylvania primary. While the two will battle over much familiar ground, the topic of guns- specifically the right to own them- should be the hottest topic of the night. Guns are a huge topic of interest in Pennsylvania.  On the one hand, you have a city whose nickname is Killadelphia, where 127 people have been murdered already this year. Last year over 400 were killed. Philadelphia’s murder ra... Read Full Story
Insurance Companies Playing God Over Drug Coverage
From:  blogezine.com
If you don’t think health-care reform is a critical issue in this year’s presidential election, think again. Recent changes in insurance coverage for prescription drugs will make it impossible for many of our most ill citizens: people with cancer, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases, to afford the treatments that would either save their lives or drastically improve the quality of their lives. News of these changes came to light in an incredibly d... Read Full Story
The Ass is Half Empty: The 28% Solution
From:  blogezine.com
Memo to George W. Bush: Though your approval rating hit a new low this week, keep your chin up! Sure, a pessimist looking at Bush’s approval rating of 28% might think that America believes Bush is doing a God-awful job as President of the United States.  On the other hand, an optimist would have to think that Bush has pulled off an absolute miracle in convincing more than a quarter of those polled that he’s doing just fine. Given his track record, it’s remarkable there are e... Read Full Story

[N]o religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States- Article VI of the United States Constitution Religion is a matter that lies solely between a man and his God… History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government.”- Thomas Jefferson What would the founding fathers have thought if they could have seen Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s performances at last nig...
