Drop In Google’s Paid Clicks

This is not necessarily a bad thing although Google investors might have disagreed last week when they saw Google shares fall sharply. A report written by comScore indicated that the drop in paid clicks was related to improvements that Google had made within its ad platform. Some of which included Google’s efforts to weed out low quality leads for advertisers by placing fewer, better targeted ads. This in turn did reduce the clickthrough rate of ads. However, what that means is that the well targeted ads by Google take fewer clicks to get through for consumers to find just exactly what they’re looking for. Market weakness was not a factor either as other large search engines’ paid click ads did not decline.
