Changing Energy Patterns
It is becoming common knowledge that our bodies, everything in the universe in fact, is made of energy. Energy moves and behaves in patterns, based on input and feedback. The more a pattern is supported with thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and experiences, the stronger it becomes. We may have the desire to change a pattern and take action only to get frustrated with the seemingly small impact our efforts make.Deciding to lose weight and get fit is a great example. If we’ve been sedentary for a... Read Full Story
Motivation vs. Passion
Do you know what motivates you to do what you do? I thought I did, until I took a closer look at what I do and how I really feel about doing it. When I first entered the world wide web, I wanted to learn how to succeed in my new environment, but more than that I wanted to express my passion. My focus was sharing the journey of spiritual awakening and self-discovery in a way that was both appealing and encouraging to others. Sounds like a nice altruistic ideal, right? Not so. The real motivati... Read Full Story
Vague Seeds, Vague Harvest
We’ve become so accustomed to shortcuts and accelerated processes that even in personal or spiritual matters we tend to rush. Short guided meditations are more popular than longer ones. A process that can be done in 5 steps is more appealing than one that may take months or years to complete. We thrive on completion and accomplishment, that lovely feeling of knowing we’ve finished something. What we lose in the process is effectiveness.Have you ever tried to release a vague belief? Lets say ... Read Full Story
Getting Permission
Who do you need permission from to be happy? It sounds like a silly question to ask an adult, but most of us are still waiting for permission to live the life we want to live. It may be that we think society won’t accept our vision or that close friends or family members might ridicule our ideas. We’re so conditioned to want to be acceptable to others that we often deny our hearts desires for the sake of approval. When I was a child, I needed my parents’ permission for everything. One thing th... Read Full Story
Great Books
I don’t normally write book reviews, but there are two books that I was guided to in the past week that are exactly what I needed. The first is “Your Sacred Self,” by Wayne Dyer. Its about the difference between who we are not and who we are and how to change which one we operate from. Wayne asks poignant questions and gives realistic examples to help the reader discover when and how they are functioning from the fear-based ego. The book contains numerous suggestions for breaking old patterns... Read Full Story
Core Desires
It was helpful to identify exactly what I want, but it was enlightening to ask why its important to me. What I discovered are the core desires that motivate my surface level desires. Now that I know what motivates my desires, I can find ways to fulfill them directly.Underlying what I think I want, I found deep desires for freedom, joy, safety, confidence, and trust. In fact, everything I desire for my life comes down to these core desires. The only thing keeping me from experiencing all of th... Read Full Story
Recovering from Obligation
I am not responsible for the happiness of others. Neither are you. Its not my job to make other people happy. Its not yours either. We can’t make other people happy. We also can’t make them heal, grow, or feel any particular feelings toward us. So, why do we feel obligated to do so?We’ve been taught that how other people feel, particularly how they feel about us, is a direct result of our behavior. That implies that we are responsible for other people’s feelings. We’ve been taught that a “goo... Read Full Story
Doing Nothing
Not doing anything at all is one of the hardest things for me. I always want to feel like I’m making progress, moving forward. Just being without doing is not as easy as it sounds, but it is important to our wellbeing and essential to our spiritual growth. There are times when doing nothing is the most valuable thing we can do. When I have so much to do that I don’t know what to do or when things get chaotic in my life, that’s a good time to just be still. Even my busy thinking needs to be sti... Read Full Story
Who's in Charge?
Who makes the decisions about what you can or cannot have? Who’s in charge of your life? Our first, conscious, answer to that question is usually a resounding, “Me!” That’s what we want to believe. Teachers and sages have told us that our life is up to us. Spirit has told me that what we declare true is true…. if we believe it. Ah, that’s the catch. We have to believe we’re in charge of our lives in order to experience it as true.I have subscribed to that belief, but not experienced it as my ... Read Full Story
Who Are You?
Have you asked yourself that question? Do you know who you are? Most of us have been trained to think we are something far less than what we really are. None of us were created as helpless, hopeless, sinful victims. We are the physical vehicle through which Spirit expresses and experiences life. We are in charge of our lives, imbued with the power to create them as we choose. Spirit infuses us with the power to do so and inspires our hearts to create. As we create, we experience, and the expe... Read Full Story
