Who Are You?

Have you asked yourself that question? Do you know who you are? Most of us have been trained to think we are something far less than what we really are. None of us were created as helpless, hopeless, sinful victims. We are the physical vehicle through which Spirit expresses and experiences life.

We are in charge of our lives, imbued with the power to create them as we choose. Spirit infuses us with the power to do so and inspires our hearts to create. As we create, we experience, and the experience inspires new desires, which create new experience. This is the natural process of evolution. This is how life expands.

Surrendering to Spirit is an act of choosing what is in our hearts over the fears and false beliefs of the ego. It’s the most empowering thing we can do. Rather than giving up all power over our lives, surrendering to Spirit is claiming and accepting our power.

Spirit desires to expand through the creation of new experiences. As Spirit, it cannot interact and create in the physical world. That’s why we, the physical expressions of Spirit, were created. Spirit interacts with the physical world, creating and experiencing, through the bodies that we know ourselves to be. We are in fact a physical extension of Spirit, making it possible for Spirit to fulfill its desires.

Our job here is to listen to the desires that Spirit puts in our hearts, follow the inspiration, and create experiences. When we deny our desires, we deny Spirit. The power we have to choose and create our reality lies in our free will to either act on the desires of Spirit or on the fears of the ego. There is no acting or not acting, no choosing or not choosing. We are in every moment making a choice and acting on it.

Choosing the fears of the ego over the inspiration of Spirit cuts us off from Spirit, and from the power given to us from Spirit. “He who would give up himself would gain the whole world.” This statement is about giving up the fear-based beliefs of who we think we are and surrendering all the Spirit. In so doing, we give up all that limits the full expression of who we are. In the giving up, we open to the power that Spirit has to move through us to create in the world.
