Finally - a review of Ecliff Elie's "A Taste of Berries" 2008 show
We were all prepped and primed to have some first-rate coverage of this show for you; the Trinidad correspondents for MyCaribbeanGateway were informed that they were definitely invited to cover the event and chat briefly with Mr. Ecliff Elie himself after the show. The show was scheduled to run from 7 - 9pm, and for one, it started promptly. However, it was also promptly done just about 30 minutes after! The designs passed by in a swish and that was it. Maybe, everyone was just excited to... Read Full Story

Happy 2nd Anniversary to Jamrock Magazine!
Over the past few months, I've become a serious fan of Jamrock magazine; I was actually feeling out of the loop for a second, thinking "how come I didn't hear about this mag before?!" To say the least, Jamrock is a high quality, well laid-out & produced Caribbean Magazine, with a sleekness that belies its 'youth'. Embarrassment aside, the Link Up media publication celebrated their 2nd Anniversary yesterday, on September 18th 2008 (Big up to Assistant Editor-in-Chief Mikelah Rose for hooking... Read Full Story
ANTM Chick for Virgin Islands Fashion Week
The amount of different Fashion Weeks across the region is becoming mind boggling - geez! I can't possibly attend them all; it sincerely feels as if every other island is throwing together a fashion week, every other month. The V.I. Fashion Week: Caribbean Catwalk 2008, is attempting to ritz-it-out by inviting some 'formers'. They're bringing Zulema Charles, an ex-model and past Project Runway contestant to be part of the show, along with their apparent 'face' of the promotion, former... Read Full Story

Machel's starring on the cover of Basia, giving off that lil suave & laid back vibe, Caribbean Posh is stepping it up with Ms. La Belle - yes, Patti La Belle - vamping on the front, and Ocean Style brings back Rihanna for a second spin. Check out the covers... Read Full Story
Rihanna 'Vogues' it at Fashion Rocks 09.
Check out the above clip of Bajan/Int'l star Rihanna doing her fash thing and belting, nay, lip-syncing a cover of Madonna's classic 'Vogue' to open the 2009 Fashion Rocks show. Now, the video is grainy, and it's just a clip, but you can get a general gist as to how she sounded during the performance. I can't say for certain that she lip-synced, but it was kinda fishy. I mean, I've heard Rihanna try to dance & sing live; it's not quite a treat. But during this performance - where she... Read Full Story
Carolina Herrera Brings Slick Flair to NY Fashion Week S09
I am pissed that I missed this show! I'm a big fan of Carolina Herrera's cool-handed, effortless glamour and pristine cuts; she's a pro at using the boldest, brightest and sharpest looks without making her pieces seem like frou-frou. For the Spring 09 line that was showcased on Monday at Bryant Park's NY Fashion Week, Herrera churned out her basics - sleek & ladylike dresses, close cropped pantsuits and floaty dresses in the punchiest of prints, materials & colours. Pieces slinked along... Read Full Story
