Neverending Questions

Contaminated heparin. So not the article a woman wants to read three and half years after burying her seemingly healthy, 44-year old husband and best friend of almost 18 years from a second heart attack. For the first one, they pumped him so full of heparin that they couldn't operate on him for two days - a tremendous amount of time to go by when it comes to heart muscle damage.
And no one but me and the ICU staff saw the effects of the post-operative "infection" that caused his temperature to spike to 106 at one point. It was attributed to a staph infection - they believe came from the pump they placed inside him, on top of his heart (yes, I talked to a lawyer and no there was nothing to be done about it). Could it have been an allergic reaction to heparin instead? Sigh.
