Thanks to Darryl for the info on this new procedure. A good article can be found on the main Georgetown University Hospital website, and is entitled, “Sinus Sufferers Breathe Sigh of Relief with New Balloon Therapy”. The article doesn’t have a named author, but it can be inferred from the tone, lack of alternative perspectives, and location, that it is written by them. Regardless, it provides information about a possible alternative to sinus surgery. The procedure i... Read Full Story

The membranes swell and the mucus cannot drain. This leads to pressure. Use OTC nasal decongestants for the “short term.”Prevent ... Read Full Story

As I was deadheading my cleome plants this afternoon, I heard the sound of diesel engines nearby. Looking up, I saw a fire truck turn into my subdivision with lights flashing. It stopped at a house down the street where a few people were standing around. Two other vehicles quickly followed it and people jumped out, running over to the house. I just had my 3 week follow up with my surgeon. I was a little nervous before going in because I want this to be over, but I want everything to be checked, a few questions answered, and the pain gone. A nurse blew some local anesthesia down each nostril. It tasted awful! Yuk! It numbed the back of my throat too and made it hard to swallow. Then the nurse took a little metal cart and put it beside me with a scope on it. She rattled around in a drawer and I glanced to see scissors and saws and ... Read Full Story
