So serious.... 5YO finally cheered at her first football game. As we were getting ready to get there, she told David and I that she actually felt like a real cheerleader now. Why wouldn't she? She's got the uniform and everything... We've had quite the busy weekend! Thursday night the girls had a cheer performance and it's been a total blur since then. As you might have read from my previous post, Friday provided for an unexpected turn of events that led to no rest AND no... Read Full Story
That seems like such a simple enough task, right? Not when you're on a WELL. It's been a pretty easy morning. I'd intended to run to the gym for the first time in forEVER and do a bit of shopping while the kids were in school. Since I'd be going to the gym to get all sweaty and yucky, I obviously wouldn't need a shower before I left. But, a clean face and clean teeth are totally necessary when dealing with the general public. I went to turn the water on, and it was barely a... Read Full Story
Mmmm....soup! The breadsticks are almost done... Aaaaaahhhh....now they're perfect! WAIT! It's still missing something... That's right...THE CHEESE!!! I made Pizza Soup for dinner last night! Actually, it feels pretty good to say that I made it YESTERDAY MORNING and it was ready when I wanted it to be. This one was a hit! David had like three bowls of it! 12YO ate almost all of hers, even though her last few bites were always preceded by, "Can I be done NOW?" 5YO just ate a... Read Full Story
Some people should only be allowed to raise DOLLS! My mom was shopping in Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. (Why do so many misfits always do their best work in Wal-Mart, anyway?) She was having a pretty crummy day as it was. As she was looking at different fabrics to make into blankets, some lady seemed to be making things more difficult. Every time my mother would stop to look at a particular fabric, she would take a moment to ponder if that was the fabric she actually wanted. You know, you... Read Full Story
I guess you could say I take my 'me time' where I can get it. I lock the bathroom door every chance I get. If I'm consumed by a novel or a game on my cell phone, I'll take it with me. Otherwise, I'm happy to just go alone. If even just to pee. I sometimes even lock my bedroom door to cut the children off so they can't knock directly on my bathroom door. Alone. Wow. That used to sound like a bad word when I was younger. From the time I was five and wished I had an escort to walk... Read Full Story
It's 'Crazy Hair Day' at 12YO's school. Did she participate? Nah...she always looks this goofy! *giggle* David helped her spray her hair the colors this morning. I'm so proud.... This is 2YO's new humidifier. I never thought we'd need another one, but we got impatient trying to clean our old one and ended up sort of breaking it. Oh well, that one made warm mist and she's actually supposed to have a cool mist one...even though they had said that humidity was humidity. Now I had an... Read Full Story
I finished that hat I was working on. No, I still haven't weaved the ends in! Thanks for noticing. 2YO was more than happy to model it for me. In between shots, I would have to show them to her and she would say, "Aaaaawwwww!!!" Obviously, self esteem is not a problem for her. It might be a problem for the rest of the world, but that's their problem, right? One more shot for, you know....posterity? Okay, maybe not quite.... And what do we have here? That's right...I made THIS... Read Full Story
An hour after it had been cooking... When it was all done and ready to cut... On my plate. Mmmm....I had a second piece too, but it wasn't on my plate long enough to take a picture of it. The next thing I knew, ...that was what my plate looked like! And there are no leftovers to speak of! NONE! I guess you could say that this experiment was a success! Stay tuned, because tonight's dinner is going to be THIS. (Or, at least it will be a modified version of it!) THANKS... Read Full Story
2YO wakes up by watching old episodes of 'Big Comfy Couch' I cannot believe how much we cram into our first day of every week! It looks as if this will be our schedule for awhile: 6:00 a.m: Wake up. Wake 12YO so she can get in the shower. Walk out to the kitchen, let the dog out, and get some hot water going for my morning tea. Fold the load of clothes in the dryer and put away. By then, 5YO is awake. (Or she should be.) We argue about whether or not it's actually morning (she... Read Full Story
So, 5Yo did take the bus this morning. She likes to ride the bus to school. She still wants me to pick her up after school today. From what David tells me, the bus sat in front of our house on Friday like she was waiting for us. You might remember that she wanted me to drive her to school on Friday, so we weren't waiting for the bus. She waited past the time she was supposed to. I figure she either has a watch that's really wrong or she's doing her best not to piss off the complainer... Read Full Story
