No! Absolutely not! This is not a political commentary. Frankly, politics is one of my least favorite topics. For too many people it's so emotional that it becomes irrational. Where I'm going with this post is concerning thinking in stages. The advantage to such thinking is the ultimate level of thought or progression of thoughts is one of blinding clarity. Blinding clarity puts things in such a clear frame of reference that it forces you to progress from thinking to actually acting on... Read Full Story

There really is no secret to it. We make it a big secret too often but it isn't. Really! I wouldn't tease you. Oh, okay. I guess that may be what I'm doing with this series of sentences. Let's get to it then. Progress doesn't just happen. By definition, making progress suggests a repetition of effort over time. You can see that idea illustrated in so many ways. Take for example the Oregon Trail out in the western part of the United States. Even after well over one hundred years the... Read Full Story

A good question, don't you think? Probably asked it of yourself and others a thousand times over your life. We seem to love to ask that question because not knowing what happened or why it happened is not a comfortable position to be in. WE want clarity...always! Understandable. However, where all of us get ourselves in trouble from time to time is believing what happened is what we are. By that I mean, we believe our circumstances are because of what happened to us. Results don't just... Read Full Story

When you think about it, there's a wonderful ebb and flow to life. Everyday there's a sunrise and a sunset. The gravitational pull between the earth and moon brings ocean tides in and out. The seasons come and they go. People travel to and from work. The flow of things just seem to make all of that so. Implied in the above examples is a certain endlessness. They happen regardless of other events. They persevere, shall we say. If you want to reach your full potential in this life you... Read Full Story

There's nothing particularly good or bad about it. It just is. That said all of us have probably been on the receiving end of a comment like, Oh, act your age why don't you! It's usually stated in a snide tone of voice with reinforcing facial expressions and bodily gestures. In the opening line of this paragraph, I was suggesting the phrase that is the title to this post isn't particularly good or bad. What makes it one or the other is the point of reference from which it is being used... Read Full Story

I'm not talking about a golden rule like principal, here. Hell, I'm not good enough to be so presumptuous. There's no doubt I have not always done right even if that was my intent. I would imagine the same is true for you. But, that doesn't mean we shouldn't continue the search for doing the right thing. The problem is our search may take us in the wrong direction. You see doing the right thing isn't about actions. It's about thoughts. When you think right, you do right. How you think... Read Full Story

They're all over out there! Those idiots who seem to live for the thrill of annoying others. Take driving a car for example. Are there some dumb people out there sitting behind the wheel of a car, or what? Idiots doesn't even come close to defining them and their actions. Geez! What's a person to do? Well, don't take offense if you're one of those people who find the world is full of those who annoy you. They are not worth it and, oh, by the way, they are not the problem. You are... Do you know what an oxymoron is? It's such a funny sounding word and, yet, it is a word the meaning of which can have a powerful impact. That being the case let's define the word's meaning so we can proceed with clarity. Oxymoron as defined in the Pocket Oxford English Dictionary: "a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear together." Thus, my point. The title of this post is a good example of an oxymoron. How can outside be in or in be outside? Yup...we have two... Read Full Story

No...I'm not talking about doing some sewing, here, to tailor some clothing. On the other hand, being able to tailor your clothing would be a good skill to have...and, a money saver, too! Have you checked out the price for altering clothing lately? Whew! I don't know where all the profits go but I hope most of them go to the skilled person making the alterations. Anyway, that's not the focus of this post. The real focus is on you and your life. The fact is, just as in tailoring clothing... Read Full Story

The idea applies to everybody but the younger people seem to be particularly challenged. Oooh. That got your attention! Well, it's true! The youngest generation or two is at a disadvantage because too many haven't truly experienced disadvantage. The culture has become one of instant gratification. So much money has been afloat for so many people that it was no object. Whatever was wanted was provided...quickly! No lay-away plan...no saving until we can afford to pay cash...no delay...
