Oh. My. GOD.
A few months back I wrote a post about the way GoodReads is set up and how I almost accidentally sent an invitation to “Join me on GoodReads!” to every person in my address book. Well…this time I did it.
And it wasn’t just in my address book! Every single person who has ever sent me an email at my gmail account…well guess what? They’re all getting invitations to “Join me on GoodReads!”
I thought I was sending one, ONE invita... Read Full Story
Hey. Does it seem like people are using the word “exponentially” a lot lately? Seems like a day doesn’t go by that I don’t hear it.

This is a foreclosure house in my neighborhood. Like everywhere in the country right now, there are a lot of homes being foreclosed on in El Paso. Yesterday (Tuesday) there were 400 homes up for auction, according to the local news sources. These houses aren’t even selling at auction, and last night on the news one r... Read Full Story
Everyone’s probably seen this already, but it’s new to me and wow. I never realized how easily Isaac Hayes’ classic theme from Shaft lends itself to a stringed arrangement until I saw this video by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. The singing isn’t bad either.
“What’s the most important thing about a coal mine apart from the coal?” It’s not what you think it is.

You know how when you tip your computer keyboard over and tap it on the desk you’re amazed with all the crap that falls out of it? Well I feel that same way whenever I open our coffee and tea cupboard.
Today I opened said cupboard to put away the latest addition to my tea family (some delicious smelling concoction of chemical-soaked tea leaves called Vanilla Caramel Truffle by Lipton) and all the usual suspects came tumbling down on me and I dodged and batted at them. Like clown... Read Full Story
I am motivated today to lash out at Glade, the “home fragrance” mega company.
The cause of my fury is their scented candles, which have lit a fire under me, so to speak. I bought a Glade scented candle a month or so ago, the Clean Linen scent, and it was fine, but I was only able to use it a couple of times because the wick burned away, leaving about a half-inch of unused wax in the bottom of the candle.
In other words, I was ge... Read Full Story
I was looking around Netflix for some good relaxation yoga, the sort you’d do in the evening, when I discovered Wai Lana. Perhaps I’m late to the dance (sorry ’bout the pun) but I’d never heard of her.
Through investigation I discovered that Wai Lana has a whole life, a whole world of yoga that I never knew about. Here’s a song and dance she’s recorded that is just up my alley. It takes me back to the “Skinnamarink” song Sharon, Lois,... Read Full Story
In the comments to my last post I was telling readers how I keep an album of the worst photos ever taken of me. Actually, my last post came about because I’d wanted to run a photo of the worst haircut I’ve ever had but I couldn’t find the album.
Well, as you can see, I found the album. The great thing about this photo is that it’s more than just a bad haircut — my chin is all broken out also.
I was 20 or 21, and that’s my adorable daughter... Read Full Story
We haven’t been doing a lot worth blogging blog about lately as we’ve been kind of confined to our jar. We did go to a doctor appointment and sit in a crowded waiting room and brood for a long time about how it can be legal or ethical for doctors to schedule 6, 7, 8 patients for the exact same time slot, and then another 6-8 people for 15 minutes later, and so on.
Yesterday we waited two hours in the waiting room before being placed in an airless examining room to wait som... Read Full Story
Buck in the parking lot at Sierra Medical Center, morning before his operation.
It was our Life With Buck one-year blogaversary this month, but I haven’t done anything about it aside from renewing my domain name. I’ve been taking a breather from blogging, actually, to organize my thoughts and priorities after the horrors of this past month, and last week especially.
Last week Buck had to go into the hospital for an operation called carotid endart... Read Full Story
