INCOMING: The Futureheads
The Futureheads have had a hard time of it. In 2004 – four years after the band formed – all their dreams came true. Their debut album, The Futureheads, was released to critical acclaim. A year later saw the band become many people’s highlights at a rain-soaked Glastonbury and their Big Single, Hounds Of Love (a Kate Bush cover) went top ten.
Although Hounds Of Love is undeniably brilliant, it is not very Futureheads. This proved to be a problem come their second album, News And Tributes, in 2006. Those expecting the poppy call-and-response format were shocked at the band’s new direction and the band were dropped by their label 679. (Visit forums and see 679 ripped apart by fans). Many were gutted that this would be the end of The Futureheads.
Fast forward to 2008 though and the band are back and better than ever. The first single from their third album, Beginning Of A Twist, became an instant classic and is bound to become a live favourite. Their new album, This Is Not The World – released on their own label – is due for release in Europe and the US this Summer.
