You Oughta Know: The Ting Tings
I know Luis has just posted about the new iTunes/iPod advertisement campaign, but just THREE days ago I was planning to write this exact post. As they say, there is no time like the present.
Since my intention to write about The Ting Tings and now, this advert was released and the band took themselves to a new level. Amazing really, is it not? Anywho, my intentional post was an introduction to the band.
The Ting Tings consist of two members, Jules De Martino and Katie White, and originate from music centre (and my home city) Manchester, UK. I planned on suggesting that their blend of cool vocal powered rock music has made them one-to-watch in the Summer of 2008. I also planned on stating that their album, We Started Nothing, could be very very good indeed.
Their debut single – the limited edition release – That’s Not My Name, will no doubt be achieving high rankings come the inevitable Best Of The Year lists, thanks to its catchy hook led chorus and primitive beats. Their first single proper, Great DJ, is a dance floor favourite over this side of the Atlantic and rightly so. In fact, the track has become one of the most identity requested tracks on the mobile phone service Shazam.
I was expecting fan-based (but not huge) success but, with the last two days to consider, perhaps The Ting Tings could reach further heights. This, ladies and gentlemen, will be an interesting case to watch…
