About Maynas Chua and his Philosophy in Life and Business

“It’s the action, not the fruit of the action that’s important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there’ll be any fruit. But that does not mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no results.”

– Mahatma Gandhi

There will be two parts here, one about his life and the second on his business.

 Maynas Chua (Eric)

PART ONE : About the Person

Maynas Chua (you can also call him “Eric” in person) is a Serial Researcher who Writes, Designs and Make Money in a Variety of Businesses, mainly technology and self improvement related. It’s what he does as a Career and also what he absolutely loves to do in his Leisure Time. He currently spends his time between his homeland Singapore and Australia. Eric also plans to get his PhD soon so that he can carry on some in-depth research on renewable energy in the future.

Background

Eric is also an Award Winning Engineer who edged out Six Major Universities as the Winner in his Research in Power Engineering in the State of Queensland, Australia and is also a holder of several other awards as well. After a series of life changing events, he made a decision to part ways as an Electrical and Renewable Engineer, and plunged into the world of Serial Entrepreneurship.

He thinks that when one is serious about challenging himself or herself, then becoming an Entrepreneur is one of the best ways to fulfil your best human potential because you yourself can make the decisions whilst in most other careers, other people tend to make the most part of your decisions for you. That does take away much of the fun and excitement. It helps that once you have made up your mind on what your life is about. It is the ultimate test of the feasibility of the life we have chosen.

Eric’s Philosophy in Life

Eric has also written a book of philosophy for himself which he applies not only to his life but to his businesses as well. To understand more about him, how his businesses work and how it can help you find out more about yourself in someone else, this would be a good read.

His philosophy could be simply summed up in three simple terms: Make Money, Live Life Well and Improve the World from Anywhere. To make money, we will have to discover why Profit is good and why Profit is right for you, only then can one be sure in the direction he or she is heading in life. Life is about living it well and happily with your chosen moral values and standard of living. Having Money is not compulsory but it sure is a very helpful tool and leverage in the journey of living a great happy life!

The self efficient man in his mind and pocket can do a whole lot more to improve the world when he has achieved financial freedom and happy with his life. It’s simple, happy people are more likely to help make the world a happier place to live in and sad people are more likely to make the world a sadder place. Why anywhere? Because in the modern world of the Internet, we have the ability to improve the lives of others almost anywhere in the world unlike in the past, we have to be there to make a significant impact.

Living a great, wealthy and happy life is simple but not so easy if left to do it alone by yourself. Why not join Maynas Chua (Eric) and many others in the walk together in this journey where along the way, love, wealth and happiness will be found, and when we finally reached our destination, we can say to ourselves.

“Wow, that was Fun!”

Creating a Life of Meaning always is, isn’t it? *Winks*

Creating The Best Possible Self

Eric is a great admirer of thinkers who have thought and established a set of guidelines on how to create the best possible self. He also aims to abide to these guidelines as close as possible though it is sometimes hard to follow.

On Love

I was once deeply in love, living with the lady of my dreams for almost three years in Australia. I have already regarded her as my wife and thought that she would be the one I would love and care for the rest of my life. Having just started on a fantastic career as an Engineer and settling well with a great manager and team, I have thought that what a wonderful life will be in stored for the future. If this was like any other story, we might have been married and be living a blissful life happily ever after.

But things were not to be, things happened, the trust between us was lost and I could not believe what had happened at first. What was to be Heaven suddenly became Hell on Earth. It was a tale of lies, hurt and betrayal between lovers and friends…to this day, even though I have forgiven, I could never forget the amount of hurt that was dealt, not once, twice but thrice on me. But I have gotten over one of the most painful periods of my life and have decided to move towards a new direction of life. All these could have taken a much longer time if not for the support and help from my family and friends. Thank you, I really appreciate it. *Smiles*

Anyone can fall in love, but not everyone can decide to love. What I have learnt about love is that people change, what we may give might not be given back in return. We may never control how our partner’s love would be like but what we can control is our response in the turn of events. Things might go wrong sometimes but always keep your reactions in control and keep your pride intact. In the turn of events in the case of lost love, I would imagine the party who has been hurt, loses not only his love but also confidence and pride.

As Humans, we want to be able to trust and we want to be able to love. Know that Love is blind, open your eyes to see if the future is clear if your partner is the one for you. I still have lots to learn, lots to experience. So do you, as long as we live, we have the ability to love. It is the fuel of life.

Overcoming thyself

For hate is not conquered by hate: hate is conquered by love. This is a law eternal.

Overcome anger by non-anger, overcome evil by good Overcome the miser by giving, overcome the liar by truth.

Discipline is all-important

Without discipline, the destination can never be reached, for many a great man have given up halfway through their journeys when all that lacks is a persistence heart.

Self Mastery

“By energy, vigilance, self-control, and self-mastery, the wise one may make an island that a flood cannot sweep.”

Self Motivation

“He who can be alone and rest alone and is never weary of his great work, he can live in joy, when master of himself, by the edge of the forest of desires.”

PART TWO : The Entrepreneur

The Dream

Maynas Chua (Eric) aims to build a remarkable company with extraordinary growth and  to become a businessman and philosopher who can one day take the needs of the world on his shoulders and become a model philanthropist.

He believes that if we have produced something good, make sure the world knows about it.

A Word about Wealth

Wealth, “passing through the hands of the few, can be made a much potent force for the elevation of our race than if it had been distributed in small sums to the people themselves.” - Andrew Carnegie

Give it a thought, would it be better for someone to get Wealthy, only to spend it all on luxurious items or would it be better for someone who is Wealthy, to do good for the world in the way he deems most meaningful to him.

What does it mean about becoming Rich?

To be a Rich person is not merely material-wise, these are what Eric agrees on that signifies the true meaning of being Rich and Wealth.

Napoleon Hill’s Twelve Riches

  1. Positive mental attitude
  2. Good Health
  3. Harmony in relationships
  4. Freedom from fear
  5. Hope of achievement
  6. Capacity for faith
  7. Willingness to share your blessings
  8. Having a ‘labour of love’ or purpose
  9. An open mind on all subjects
  10. Self-discipline
  11. Capacity to understand people
  12. Economic security

The Myth of Wealth

I would comprehend that many a great people have thought of wealth as power, the power to have the ability to shape the word around us and to achieve the most outlandish dreams possible. Wouldn’t it be great to have everything you ever wanted? Just think for a moment what you can do if everything could be bought with money. Yet, wealth is not as much of a omnipotent power as we think.

We can certainly have many more possibilities and choices of things to do and buy when we have more money but what enables people to be wealthy in the first place? Most will agree that people do not become rich by becoming experts on spending money and buying luxurious items for their own personal pleasure. Rather, people become richer and richer by becoming experts on attracting money to their side and investing it to become wealthier.

Contrary to most theories which makes people feel that it is impossible for normal people to become rich or vice versa, that you are certain to become rich by following in the footsteps of those who have done it, it seems like the myth of making money is all but a blurry scene. Sure, most people in this world desire to become rich but many too, just do not know what is needed and are just doing things that are never going to make them rich. It is only through the experiences of those who have already achieved it that clues clearly point that the art of money making is a deliberate event where plans are made and certain skills are needed. Among all the skills, one stands out among all the rest as the most important of all.

The Skill of all Skills in the Art of Money Making

If someone came along and gave you a dollar. How long will it take you to multiply the value of the dollar? Would it make a difference if you started out with a hundred dollars instead of a single one? What about a cool hundred thousand in your bank right now, how long will it take you to multiply it? I would imagine that many a great people would say that it is certainly much easier to multiply their money if they have a hundred thousand dollars in their pockets and it is almost impossible to multiply a single dollar. The first is logical but the latter is poison to the art of money making. A lesson from the past, “…if you do not believe that you have the ability to create value out of nothing but from your own mind, then the seeds of greatness are not in you yet.”

Money is an asset and the art of making money is simply a skill of multiplying value of the asset no matter how small it is or even if you do not have it in the first place. I would imagine it so that no one in the world is capable of making money appear out of thin air, however, it is possible to create value in our minds that people are willing to exchange it with money for. The more people who are willing to exchange money for the value you created, the wealthier you will get. The more useful it is to people that it will create an advantage for them to have it over those who do not, the more money it can be exchanged for. The more people who know about it and have access to buying it, the faster your wealth will increase.

Your Choice of Vocation Matters

You can make a million selling 10 million needles at 10 cents each or just one beautiful hi-tech house for a million dollar profit. Would you prefer to find just one person who wants the house or 10 million people who only need a needle each in their homes?

Most millionaires are self made and many from the top of the list started off with nothing but a mind full of dreams which they subsequently converted into reality.

The Entrepreneur’s birthplace is a place you dream of heaven while still in hell.

Some would think that there is a responsibility to live according to a purpose, for the man without a purpose might have never really lived.

If we could not examine ourselves and identify our calling, we would be of little use. It might be silly to run around reforming and bettering the world, even giving it to “good causes,” before we had found our place in it.

“All men plume themselves on the improvement of society, and no man improves.”

The Choice of Entrepreneurship

In the E-Myth revisited, there is a memorable section that said, “the purpose of going into business is to get free of a job so you can create jobs for other people.” It was then that it is understood that it is not to be free from a boss, but to further fulfil your potential in your field when you are working for yourself. It is that burning desire to create something meaningful and great in your life, a passion to reach and constantly challenge your human potential. It was all I needed to be sure of my choice to leave my profession as an Engineer and took up the role of an Entrepreneur. It was a chance, to work on the business and not in it, the most challenging way possible and the most rewarding. Being rewarded for results, not the time spent on it. Anyone have time to spare, few can produce the best results possible.

Leap of Faith

Leap of Faith

I would think that the guilt of living for self interest and in what you believe is right, is wrong.

For many years, I have never thought of making money as a nobility until I have read about Ayn Rand. She has taught me that Wealth was a sign that a significant individual thought has taken place. I would think that the ability to think and create is the gift which has been bestowed in Humans among all the species on Earth, rather to say it was given, it might be better to say that we have evolved as a trait as a form of necessity and survival.

Just like a turtle who has developed a shell to protect it from predators to end its life, so have humans enhanced our thinking skills to not only protect ourselves from the predators of the wild and nature but to excel in this world with our ability to increase our knowledge by increments both taught and discovered.

As Humans, there are many ways to express our ability to think and it is of human nature to want to use it to the best of our human potential. Wealth is something that needs to be created and thus, it is a significant measure of our ability to think, a value of our self worth for ourselves. As long as we are Wealth Creators who obtained money through earned deserved means and not through other means as by criminal, corrupt or improper such as fraud, looting, inheritance or through unlawful means, one should not feel guilty about obtaining Wealth. Profit is good. Profit is right. Provided it is earned and deserved.

Be proud that you are a Wealth Creator and fight for your freedom to express the best of your ability to innovate and to produce, trading your best for the best of what others have created.

Patterns in Human Psyche that reveals themselves over Time

Eric thinks that a person usually has more than one face in life. According to circumstances and the environment, a person is one of the six archetypes at any point of time. Just as one feels as though he or she is an orphan when one is heartbroken, lost someone or something important. Or when one is outside his comfort zone, he becomes a wanderer or warrior. When one sees someone who needs help and gives without expecting anything in return, he’s in Altruist mode. When great things happen, one feels innocent bliss. When you feel ready to do what you are meant to do, you become a Magician. Here’s the six archetypes.

Carol S.Pearson’s Six Archetypes

  • Archetype :  Task  :  Motto
  • Orphan : Survive difficulty : Life is suffering
  • Wanderer : Find yourself : Life is an adventure
  • Warrior : Prove your worth : Life is a battle
  • Altruist : Show generosity : Commitment to the greater good
  • Innocent : Achieve happiness : Life is joy
  • Magician : Transform your life : Creating the world I want

The Joy of Giving

There are two main reasons why people give and help people. The first is solely because the person needs help and people feel obliged to help. The second reason why people give is because it gives them pleasure to help someone who can benefit from their assistance. Both ways help people but the latter helps more, it helps yourself too. Self interest is not wrong, it is human nature to always think of your self interest first before others, for how can you provide for others if you are no longer in existence or when you do not have the capability to do so?

Remember the emergency safety procedures when you are on the plane, you are advised to put on the oxygen mask for yourself first before helping others put on theirs. I would think that you would find that is an invaluable lesson to learn, you cannot help more people if you are the first to be sacrifice. Some may ask at this point, what if the person next to you is a doctor and might be able to save more lives if she lives rather than you? To this question, ask yourself, are you willing to sacrifice your life for hers? For many a great person, their choice to sacrifice themselves for another person seldom results from merit, but from affection for another depending on how close you are to each other.

There are two kinds of people who offer help, those who help only when asked and those who helped because they know it will benefit you even without asking. I strive to be the latter more often than the first for I know how much more it would have meant to help improve the situation before it comes a problem harder to solve at a later stage. And I prefer receiving the latter more often too. Thus, the joy of giving and the law of attraction. Believe in it and it shall fulfil itself.

Many a great people think that Life is all about themselves and profit when it is most of the time really about giving to other people the best of our efforts that makes us happy.
