Los Angeles County Dept. of Children and Family Services Launches Investigation into Welfare of Michael Jackson's Three Children

Just when you thought the fallout from the death of King of Pop Michael Jackson couldn't get any worse, it did. According to Access Hollywood, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is conducting an investigation into the welfare of his three children, due to the mystery surrounding his untimely death. The three children, Prince Michael I, Paris Michael Katherine and Prince Michael II, were in the singer’s rented Holmby Hills mansion when he reportedly collapsed and later died. DCFS was alerted after Jackson’s live-in physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, gave Emergency Room personnel a list of medications his patient had been taking -- reportedly a “copious amount of drugs.”

After Jackson’s death, the children were taken to the Jackson family compound in Encino, Calif., where they are under the care of family matriarch, Katherine Jackson, and other family members. The drama continues and just who will end up with the kids is really unclear because a legal battle looms between Mrs. Jackson and gold-digger Debbie Rowe.

The investigation, which falls under a category known as Caretaker Absence or Incapacity, involves talking with the children about their life while Jackson was alive, including what, if any, exposure they had to drug use in the house by their father.

The investigators will also look into conditions at the Encino house, such as who would care for the children should Katherine not be available. The investigation is expected to take a month but could be extended, depending on the results of toxicology tests done as part of Michael Jackson’s autopsy. Those results are expected in approximately two weeks. Source: Access Hollywood
The drama will continue until the guardianship issue is settled and after the toxicology results have been released. I remember the media circus and family squabbles that followed Anna Nicole Smith's death. She did not have a quarter of the money and assets Michael Jackson had, but it was still a media circus. I pray that these three children will not be used as pawns in a squabble for access to the singers multi-million dollar estate. Money certainly brings out the worst in people.
