Before PD I was never one to sit around, taking what ever life dealt to me; if there was a challenge to be risen to, I was the one who rose to it. I didn’t care if the odds were a million to one against me, I had too much stubborn pride to give in without a fight.
That was then…this is now.
For the last several months I have had some rather serious set backs with my PD - basically the meds I was taking for the disease were beginning to scramble my mind, delivering what I initially... Read Full Story

On Friday, June 6th I dropped off my children at school per usual that morning, and pointed the car toward work. It was a routine that I was quite used to, hum-drum in its predictability, and this day promised to be no different than any one of a thousand others from years gone by. At least that’s what I thought for the first few blocks of my journey. Little did I know that my life was about to take a dramatic turn less than half way to my destination as I stopped for a red light just a few... Read Full Story

For people like Scot Joplin, maple leaves were inspirational. So much so that he named one of his piano rags after them - “The Maple Leaf Rag.”
Clark, from “Clark’s Picks” has an awesome post that I highly recommend for all of you music lovers. The post has two videos of the Maple Leaf Rag being played. The first video is rather mediocre, but the second video… pure heaven . If my ears had salivary glands, they would have drooled. Thank you, Clark, for that awesome post.

It has been a strange couple of months, to say the least. For those of you that have been faithful readers, you will have noticed that my publications have been few and extremely far between lately. I would love to take the time to explain all the reasons for this, but most of the factors involved are not only complicated, but are also quite personal.
Lets just say that the Parkinson’s combined with depression, and all the medications I take for both of those issues have thrown me for a... Read Full Story

Several weeks ago I mentioned that one of my daughters asked me to play the piano as her accompanist as she played a flute solo, auditioning for the All State Band. The audition took place this past Saturday, and was a first for both of us - it was her first ever audition, and it was my first public performance that actually required a reasonable degree of perfection since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
The piece itself was a 4 movement flute sonata by Handel; a level six solo... Read Full Story
