The California & Florida Discriminatory Ballot Initiatives
This election year is heating up in its final days leading to November 4th. The U.S. economy is in deep turmoil, we are engaged in two wars, and our electorate is divided over what to do about it. Unlike in the last election, quietly sandwiched in the middle of the chaos, are the less important social issues; however, the outcome on one social issue could be very significant in California and Florida. Of course, I'm talking about same-sex marriage. Earlier this year, California's Supreme... Read Full Story
Remember Matthew Shepard
Ten years ago tomorrow a young college student was beaten, tied to a fence and left to die in an open Wyoming field simply because he was gay. He hung from that fence, in the cold, for 18 long hours. He was found by a cyclist and rushed to the hospital where he eventually died five days later. This tragedy shook the gay community not only in the United States but also around the world. Who would have done this to such a seemingly innocent young man? Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson, both... Read Full Story

Acceptance of Gay Marriage in the 2008 Election?
Gay marriage activist, Charlotte Robinson, is an Emmy Award winning producer and director. She created OUTTAKEonline.com to showcase her acclaimed short"OUTTAKE" which is currently being developed into a full length documentary. Charlotte produced "OUTTAKE" to educate & defuse the gay marriage controversy. Earlier this year I featured a post where Charlotte had been interviewed by conservative talk show host, Tom Fredriksen of Old Glory Radio. To listen to that surprisingly positive... Read Full Story
Dreams and Legal Rights do Come True
With the recent legal developments in California allowing same-sex marriage and with New York now recognizing those marriages as valid, my partner and I made a very important decision; now was the time to marry. On August 14th 2008 my life partner, Bill, and I legally married each other in San Francisco. Our wedding coincided with our ten year anniversary. Paris Hilton's Response to McCain Ad
See more Paris Hilton videos at Funny or Die Republican Senator, John McCain, recently used Paris Hilton's likeness in an ad to mock Senator Obama as being the biggest celebrity in the world. The same ad questions Senator Obama's readiness to lead. Although a McCain supporter, Paris Hilton's mother got into the act by condemning the ads. Low Level Personality Sighting
I'm well aware that many of my latest postings have been lighter and shallower than what I usually do. There are periods of time when I have to lighten up not only for my own sanity but also for those who might stop by for a glance. So here again I'll share a quickie. We spotted Sam Champion, from ABC's Good Morning America, making his way through terminal D at the LaGuardia airport in New York on Friday July 25th. Casually dressed in jeans, a tee shirt and flip flops, he carried a bright... Read Full Story
We Miss you Already Estelle Getty
Rest in peace, my dear friend Estelle Getty. Although I never knew you personally, you made me and countless others feel like we had. Your quick wit, delivery and timing have made me laugh out loud too many times to count. I never grow old of watching you again and again in The Golden Girls reruns. I must have seen each episode hundreds of times and I still laugh as if it were the first. Thank you for years of entertainment, and for making bad days good again. You are truly missed. Rest in... Rubbing Shoulders with the Stars in NYC
Sharon Gless, former costar of Cagney and Lacey and Queer as Folk, was seated across from Bill and me in first class on an American Airlines flight from Miami to New York only two weeks ago. Ms. Gless was caught talking on her cellular just before take-off and was reprimanded by the flight attendant; and just after breakfast, she made her way into the galley looking for warm cookies. Unfortunately for all of us no cookies were served that day. She seemed nice enough as Bill helped her with... Read Full Story
Victory for Gay Couples in Miami Florida
As I sit down to write this evening from a wet and cold New York City in the middle of May, I am over-come with happiness. Earlier today, the Miami-Dade County Commissioners voted 8-4 in favor of domestic partnership protections. Simply put, same-sex couples in Dade County Florida are now afforded limited protections including access to health care, and hospital visitation. The new legal protections also cover employee benefits for county workers and their domestic partners. The ordinance... Read Full Story
