If you ever wanted to know what obsession looks like, it looks kind of like what happens when a graphic designer starts contemplating fonts: I'm working on redesigning the website. It is still in the rough/comp stage, but take a looksie anyway. Consider it a sneak peak into the not-so-distant future. Obsession...you're my obsession.... Subscribe in a reader Read Full Story

Here it is a bit after 1 am while I am typing this. I just uploaded the last page of Symphony of the Universe, Book 3. I want to babble about that for a little while, so since I have this blog, I will. Symphony of the Universe was started in 2007. That kind of baffles me now, because I didn't expect to keep it going this long. I've gone through three different computers since I started this project. I've traveled around the state of Ohio peddling little side stapled books and burned through... Read Full Story

I get bored at conventions, so I draw stuff while I'm sitting at my table. I can't remember which convention it was that I did this one, but since I found it at random I decided to scan it in and share it with all three or four of you who actually read my ramblings. I scanned in a few more pages for Symphony of the Universe: Book 3 while I scanned this, so as soon as I've photoshopped them into something passable there will be new pages. Yaay new pages! I just finished reading Content, by Cory Doctorow , which was a series of interlinked opinionated but interesting essays. To sum up the 210 pages could be as simple as saying DRM is the worst thing ever, ebooks are grand, and without science-fiction fans there would be no internet. Of course I'm taking all the supporting arguments out of the way. Anyway, it's an interesting read, but I want to get to my point, I assure you that I do have one, and that I will arrive there eventually. Not all... Read Full Story

"Each night I ask the stars up above, why must I be a teenager in love?" Dion and The Belmonts The last PANEL comics anthology was movie themed, this time around teen romance. Sure, why not? It works for Archie Comics and the perpetual 1950's town of Riverdale. Even Terry Moore's Strangers in Paradise has a high school issue. So there were two things required, create a mini-biography of yourself high school self and make a comic. You could use either a high school photo or an illustration... Read Full Story

Building comics is more time consuming than a lot of people probably think. With the internet whizzing by at billions of pages per second, an nearly infinite sea of hyperlinks and distractions sometimes I wonder why I trudge about slowly updating a few pages at a time. The word "hobbyist" comes to mind. I get distracted, I work on a million other things besides my books, but I like getting back to them. I keep saying it, books are patient things. They wait for you. They'll wait for you to... Read Full Story

I'm not sure exactly how to begin this....this whole year has been a little insane for me, I could offer lengthy explanations and excuses. I just don't really feel that it is necessary to do so. What has been bothering me is that I haven't finished Book 3 of Symphony of the Universe . That was on my to do list by January 2010. It's almost July now. I even let the web domain expire (and then renewed it about a week later). It isn't easy to remain inspired over long periods of time. It is very... Read Full Story

Gem City was a blast as always! UVN and Comic Related were both on the scene, ready to report on all the comic book happenings. The work that these guys do is really great. They make it a point not to leave out the little indie artists and writers when completing their comic book news coverage. Thank you! As a self-publisher, I've been xeroxing and home printing plenty of books and prints. I have also used lulu.com to sell graphic novels. As a graphic designer, I am interested in trends...
