From:  berniehund.com
Remember the old joke about the three biggest lies in the world?  It started with “I’m from the IRS and I’m here to help you.”  I will leave it to your memory to come up with the other two.  Well, perhaps we now have the fourth greatest lie… consumer protection from credit card banks. Three Navy SEALS Charged with Giving a Captive a Bloody Lip
From:  berniehund.com
Sometimes I just don’t get it.  This is definitely one of those times.  I understand that waterboarding is torture.  I understand that torturing a prisoner who is in full control of his captors is not acceptable.  But… This according to Fox News: Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named “Objective Amber,” told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it. Ah… and?  Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice... Read Full Story

From:  berniehund.com
Senator John Ensign is back in the headlines, not for anything new, but for the same old same old.  When Ensign confessed his affair with his best friend’s wife he should have resigned.  But, like many before him… Vitter and others in the Too Good to Be True Party… John Ensign is not willing to do the best thing for the State of Nevada or the United States of America.  He should have resigned when the story broke.  Maybe he could have gotten by if he had just been bedding so... Perhaps the newest war involving Americans will be on Capitol Hill.  Health Care has proved to be a series of battles and in the end there may be no real victor… unless you are a lobbyist. It seems that the Republicans are united against any plan.  The Democrats have already begun squabbling among themselves.  The American people are confused.  And the health care lobby is growing by leaps and bounds.  It is safe to say that the health care lobby is best described as mercenaries.  In f... From:  berniehund.com
Last night the Senate mustered enough votes to proceed with the health care bill.  The vote was totally partisan.  Thirty-nine Republicans voted against moving the bill along.  All Democrats and Independents voted for the bill.  It must be said that some of the Dems were kicking and screaming all the way up to the vote.  The Healthcare bill has stumbled across the first Senate hurdle.  Read Full Story

Yep, the plan for the Senate’s first vote to get the healthcare bill rolling is to come on Saturday night.  Move over SNL!  Let’s just hope the Senate isn’t as laughable as SNL, although we do suspect some of the scripts will generate a few smirks…. on both the Senate floor and SNL. Read Full Story

Timothy Geithner, Secretary of the Treasury, was grilled and drilled by Congress reflecting the frustration of its members over the state of the economy.  In another country I feel most certain that Geithner could have been physically attacked.  It seems that everyone has his knickers in a twist. Doesn’t Take a Grinch to Steal Christmas
From:  berniehund.com
It doesn’t tak a Grinch to steal Christmas this year.  The United States Post Office beat him to the punch.  In fact, it seems the USPS is throwing Santa out with the sex offender this year.  Postal Service officials said they are tightening rules in such programs nationwide after a postal worker in Maryland recognized a volunteer in the agency’s Operation Santa program as a registered sex offender. The postal worker interceded before the individual could answer a child’s ... Read Full Story
When Is It Safe To Taser a Kid?
From:  berniehund.com
When is it safe to taser a kid?  I suspect the answer is never.  Imagine this scenario.  A mother calls the cops because her ten year old daughter won’t take a shower…. yep, that’s it.  The kid won’t take a shower.  We don’t know the details but for the sake of argument let’s assume the ten year old girl was screaming and kicking and crying. The cop arrives and sees the kid who appears to be having a temper tantrum and is definitely acting in an unruly man... Read Full Story
