Dick Cheney: Uncut, Extended Version

I swear to you, this Dick Cheney just will not go away.  In fact, the new uncut version of the Cheney side show reminds me of the uncut extended version of the worst movie I have ever seen.

Cheney has come out of the shadows since leaving office and wheelchair behind, making the rounds of Sunday morning talk shows as if he has something of value to say.  So, what is the point?  Shouldn’t he be at home writing his memoirs and rewriting history.  After all, that’s what politicians do when they leave office, isn’t it?  They re-write the history of their go at it to show them in the most favorable light.

Not, Dick.  Once he found his legs he has been trampling Washington like a man with a mission.  The best guess I can offer is that Cheney is building his defense.  Although it seems unlikely that Cheney will ever face a court for his horrendous directives as V.P., Cheney is out to prove himself right and vindicate (or try to vindicate) his paranoia.

At every appearance, whether it be on FAUX News or Face the Nation, Cheney reiterates his mantra that we as a nation are less safe with Obama in office than when he pulled the Bush puppet strings.  It seems that he will not leave Washington until America is attacked again.  In fact, that is the only action that could even come close to vindicating the Cheney ideology.  He is hanging around to say, “I told you so.”

We, as Americans, would be deluding ourselves if we began to believe that we will never be attacked on our own soil again.  Most agree that it is a matter of time.  Sooner or later — hopefully much, much later — a terrorist is going to slip through the cracks and perform some heinous act.  To believe otherwise would make us all too complacent.  We have seen the ongoing destruction resulting from what seems like random attacks across Europe.  In all honesty, we cannot believe that we are 100% safe whether Barack Obama is POTUS or any other human being sitting in the Oval Office.

So, perhaps Cheney is hanging around Washington to say, “I told you so.”  Whatever his purpose — and that is the best one I can come up with — he should have taken a few lessons from his predecessors.  When it’s over move back to your home state — but get out of Washington!
