Really! I am not joshin' you. Come November a book store near you will have a cookbook written by me and published by Ulysses Press . I can't spill all the details. But I will say I want to include as many of you as possible in this book. They'll be my recipes, but if all goes to plan many of you will get to see your name in print too. But that's got to stay hush-hush for now. So please check back regularly, because soon there will be a new section in the nav bar that will lead to an... Read Full Story
Gimme Some Lovin Hibiscus-Vanilla Bean Shortbread Cookies
| From : sippitysup.com

Do you love love? Then you'll love these Hibiscus-Vanilla Bean Shortbread cookies. Crumbly texture. Rich buttery taste with just a hint of floral sweetness from deeply red hibiscus blossoms. They scream love don't they? But I'll admit these cookies are little too cute for words. But sometimes the helpess (hapless?) romantic in me pushes through and puts Grumpy Greg in his place. At least there are no ribbons, right? Because it's that time of year when we celebrate love. All kinds. So The... Read Full Story

Chicken Meatballs with Artichokes & Carrots
Meatballs make me laugh! You have to be "of a certain age" to laugh at meatballs. So I wish I didn't laugh out loud at the thought of Chicken Meatballs with Artichokes & Carrots because I hate it when I date myself. But damnit I miss Bill Murray. And I don't mean the middle-aged Bill Murray, who has enjoyed a career renaissance playing forlorn cool characters in meaty independent films. Nope I mean the laugh-out-loud Bill Murray. The Saturday Night Liv e Bill Murray. The iconic comic genius... Read Full Story
Pooch Poop, or Why My Wireless Network is Now Known as WTFICU2

There's no rule that says I gotta write about food. Look it up if you don't believe me. In fact I am dedicating today to– how shall I say this. Well, dog poo. May I talk about dog poo without upsetting you too much? You see I live in a nice neighborhood. I have nice neighbors, or so I thought. But take a look at this. Someone on my street used their wireless router to shame (presumably) another neighbor about pooch poop. Maybe this street is not quite as decorous as I thought. Because no... Read Full Story
I've Got a Cold Only Tom Kha Gai Can Cure
| From : sippitysup.com

If you are seeing a picture of tom kha gai then it is safe to assume that I feel like crap.  Sometimes you just don't need a recipe to know what your body craves. This is one of those days, because I have a bad cold. One of those I don't want to do anything at all kind of colds. I have been battling it for 5 days. It started typically enough with a scratchy throat. By the next day I had a stuffy nose, but no fever. In fact if it weren't for the stuffy nose I would have said I felt just... Read Full Story

"It's Awards Season . The Super Bowl is coming. And you know you have to catch up with Don Draper at a Mad Men Marathon before the new season starts. So get off the couch and into the spirit. Turn on the tube, throw a party, and invite some friends– because The Table Set wants you and your guests to tune in and turn up your TV party's volume." It was my turn to write the show notes for this week's episode of The Table Set and that's how I chose to introduce it. I hope it adequately... Read Full Story

Follow my blog with Bloglovin I have some funny sounding words to throw at you for today's Market Matters from the Hollywood Farmers Market. Crudo & Kumquat. You probably know what kumquats are. But do you love them? I bet you do, or at least would if you knew what to do with them. They are one of the lesser known and most misunderstood members of the large and diverse citrus family. The  funny thing about a kumquat is it's most prized for it's sweet skin. They are mostly enjoyed by... Read Full Story

Asiago Mac and Cheese with Truffled Potato Crust
I have a not-so-classic Asiago Mac and Cheese Pie with Truffled Potato Crust for you today that could pass for a geography lesson, or maybe even a life lesson. It may seem like a simple but comforting baked pasta, but unique ingredients and an international pedigree make it something more too. This "pie" is dense with penne pasta, creamy Wisconsin Asiago cheese and Tuscan kale. I have given it an Idaho potato crust that is scented with truffle oil. I call it a non-traditional pie, but it's... Read Full Story
Not Ferret Fritters... Farro Fritters!

I am pretty proud of today's Farro & Sun-Dried Tomato Fritters though I admit they don't really look like much. That's one of the problems facing food bloggers these days. If you want to reach a wide audience (and who doesn't) your food has to look extra special scrumptious, be super colorful, get wrapped in bacon, or at least have a peanut butter swirl. These foods may look pretty (especially when they are tied up in a bow), but they don't always ignite the imaginations of the more mature... Read Full Story
A Sardine Sandwich with Horseradish Cream

Sardines? Egads no! They look like fish, they smell like fish and they taste like fish. That's enough information to get many of us to swim for the hills. If there was ever a little fishy in need of a makeover it's the sardine. Un-loved and under-appreciated do not begin to describe the loathing attached to this surprisingly healthy and completely delicious tasting fish. I'll start the makeover with a sandwich that I know you'll love, if you just let yourself get past all those fishy... Read Full Story
