Mike Chen's Hockey Blog Previous entry: Fear The Fehr by Mike Chen on 11/09/09 at 12:00 PM ET Comments (4) Joe Starkey, columnist for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, recently stated something that we’ve heard off and on over the years: that the NHL needs to contract. Now, I’m guessing Starkey is saying this from a talent perspective instead of looking at economics, because he’s not saying “These troubled markets need to be addressed.&... Read Full Story

Top Goalie So Far This Season
From:  kuklaskorner.com
In late October, I picked Craig Anderson of the Colorado Avalanche as the top goalie so far this season.  He is having a very good season (so far), but has given way to Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres.  When I picked Anderson, it was clear that the race was between him and Miller.  Miller had a slightly higher saves percentage, with fewer games played and fewer shots faced.  In the meantime, Anderson`s numbers have dropped a bit, while Miller has done a better job of ma... Panthers Goaltender Clemmensen Points Finger At Defensemen
From:  kuklaskorner.com
After allowing seven goals in Saturday’s loss to the Capitals in Washington, D.C., including five in a third period he described as “like quicksand out there,” Clemmensen said his teammates didn’t protect the front of the net well. When the puck got there, he added, there was such a scramble by the Panthers that “it looked like a fire drill.” Coach Pete DeBoer’s response Sunday: “I understand where a goaltender who has let in [12] goals in h... A Gentler Lindy Ruff
From:  kuklaskorner.com
Just before the season, Lindy Ruff pulled his leaders aside and told them they needed to take over the Buffalo Sabres’ dressing room. He made it clear that he was finished barking after every poor performance. This was their team, he told them, and taking ownership was their responsibility. It was as if Ruff recognized that his style had grown stale, that he knew adjustments were required if his team was going to go anywhere. He has said numerous times this season that the Sabres̵... Blackhawks Health Improving
From:  kuklaskorner.com
Center Jonathan Toews and left wing Ben Eager are expected to return to the lineup tonight from their concussions, which should give the Hawks a boost. I definitely feel I have my rhythm back.” Toews centered a line for Patrick Sharp and Dustin Byfuglien at Sunday’s practice while Eager skated with Colin Fr... Read Full Story
