Snap...Crunch...Yum! Carrots are by far my favorite vegetable to snack on. They are crunchy, watery and are delicious. The sound a crisp carrot makes when taking a bite is the snap of refreshment. My bearded dragon, Arson, even loves carrots just like I do, especially baby carrots. One carrot for me, one for him. My family eats carrots for dinner about twice a week, but they are usually cooked. My mom has this recipe where she cooks the carrots then puts some dill and lemon over top of it. It... Smush, smush, smush. If you plan on going to the pumpkin patch this year, be sure to wear boots. You will be seeing a lot of mud as you search for your perfect pumpkin.
Melanie and I went to the Richmond Counrty Farm Pumpkin Patch this past weekend. I will always remember the first time I went to a pumpkin patch way back when I was just a little munchkin about three years old. So having a fun adventure like this always reminds me of my childhood.
Pumpkins, corn mazes,hay... Read Full Story
Wow the concert Tuesday night was incredible!
The crowd went wild as Beyonce made her grand entry. She flew through the air on a harness landing on the stage set up in the centre of the stadium.
I was in the perfect spot in the 9th row from the stage. I have never been so close to the stage and I could have touched her if I had been sitting a few seats over. I am glad I paid for really great seats.
At the centre stage she performed a taste of her older album "Irreplaceable... Read Full Story
As of two days ago, I'm on a one-year parental leave. I won't be back to work until late-March 2010. And that means I won't be posting to my Science in B.C. blog until I return. However, I will still be blogging for The Sun's website at...(read more) Read Full Story
A neat story out of UBC today about a device their researchers have invented called a "solar canopy" that uses a series of mirrors to convert the sun's rays into banks of lights for use in office towers. I went out with a photographer to...(read more) Read Full Story
You’re single and it just so happens to be the most romantic day of the year. Instead of throwing yourself a pity party this Valentine’s Day be proactive and create a day for yourself that doesn’t involve a box of tissues and a chick flick. Why not:
1. Gather your single friends and throw an Anti-Valentine’s Day party to celebrate your autonomy. Nothing heart-shaped or cupid-themed. Any other day, this would just be a party but today singles gather to celebrate... Read Full Story
““He’s just not that into you!” Move on! You can do so much better! There are other fish in the sea! Don’t waste your time, honey! Who needs a guy anyway?
I’m pretty sure that most of these phrases have been heard by many of us. Wondering if you are ever going to get a call after that first date? Wondering if your man will ever propose to you? How about if you’re married and worried if your husband is cheating on you?
Watching “He’s Just... Read Full Story
Recently I journeyed a little further from home and took a much needed break to Las Vegas for the weekend. I flew out of Bellingham Airport in Washington State since packages from here were about $200 cheaper per person than flying from Vancouver. My girlfriend and I booked a room at the Luxor Hotel and Casino on The Las Vegas Strip. The hotel was a little dark but lovely. The only issue was that the hotel was undertaking some renovations which prevented the fountains from functioning and cau... Read Full Story

I recently got back from a little vacation to Toronto, Ontario. I went for 10 days to visit my best friend, Jackie for her nineteenth birthday. She had absolutely no idea that I was coming. I was going to be her surprise birthday present. Her mom worked really hard setting up the whole plan and the surprise worked out so well. Since my best friend’s big day was coming up, she had rented a limo and was on the guest list at Rockwood Club in downtown Toronto. Her brother pr... Read Full Story
An interesting story in today's paper about a UBC study that found heart-disease patients from poor neighbourhoods were twice as likely to die as those from the richest enclaves. Though, weirdly, not from heart disease itself -- but from other chronic...(read more) Read Full Story
