The Calm…
Aha! Thought you could slip by unnoticed eh? Not today old friends! *cackle*…I guess I could have just said “Hello?”…
Well…after many “bitty” updates, little pop ins and run ins with me saying “Here I am” or things of that nature I have now managed to sort out the domain problems I was having, completed several real life projects and have finally (at least in my mind) returned to my so called – “A-Game” where I actually have the time to both play EVE Online and blog about it.
The story in this little interrim period is a rather uneventful one but it’s one I will share all the same! So, grab some crisps/chips (Dependant on which side of the Atlantic you live – sorry to those who are in noway close to the Atlantic, I have no idea of any other names for Crisps/Chips!) and possibly a beverage (hot or cold, it matters not) and indulge me with a little reading.
In my personal life, I have moved cities and closed the four year chapter of my life that was my time at Liverpool University. I am back in Manchester, working and just generally trying to find my way in a world filled with possibility and many many unknowns. I have had articles published and I have participated in other non-related EVE projects and for the most part, I am content with how things are. However, you guys didn’t come here to read words about “Real Life”. You came here to read about internet spaceships and all the associated niceties and strange events that go with them so I shall continue in this vein and let slip a few details of just what I have been up to in this quiet blogging period.
I got into PvP. Yeah…how about that? Made the full plunge after a good year of PvE action. My ISK wallet and I are not on the best of terms since I made this decision but it has certainly led to exciting times for myself and the guys I fly with. We’re small time, really small – a tiny band in the Caldari Militia duking it out with bigger fishes and sometimes scoring a quick hit and sometimes crashing and burning pretty damn hard. Eyes have been opened, possibilities revealed – the game grows freakishly larger with each passing engagement and each possible avenue we stare down. We try not to get ahead of ourselves and for the most part we have stuck to small encounters as a small gang, picking our targets and trying to avoid the traps thrown at us by players who hunt us in larger numbers and with twice the experience. Despite the trials, it’s a good life at the moment and one which I hope will continue to flourish as we expand and seek out new challenges.
Oh yeah, little plug incoming – If you happen to be seeking a corp in this big ole Universe and perhaps you happen to read my ramblings from time to time and you also happen to be interested in PvP, with a little bit of PvE (wormholes baby!) then by all means open a Conversation with me in game and we can discuss possibilities. We’re a Euro time zone corp though, so bear that in mind….
I’ve grown my skills…breaching 20 million skillpoints a few weeks back and have recently aquired the skills to fly Gallente HACs and utilise Tech 2 Heavy Drones. My Ishtar is officially to be feared…well…it would be if I could afford to lose the damn thing in PvP. It becomes increasingly clear that I need to actually kick myself into shape on the profit front and get out there and EARN EARN EARN (Donations are of course welcome. I am shameless in this regard).
In other EVE related news – since CCP finally allowed us to pay for things via PayPal, I am now a proud E-ON reader and am thoroughly enjoying the latest issue and it’s great to see some fine text from the likes of Mynxee and Kirith Kodachi in there, whose work I still thoroughly enjoy reading, despite my recent self-demotion to “Lurker” status which I am now finally breaking out of. In short: Great work guys – I freaking love it!
I’m currently working on a few little “articles” which will be posted in the coming days. I hope to discuss the PvE aspects of EVE Online and ways in which they could be further improved to provide a REAL alternative to PvP (for those crazy enough to think they need MORE than PvP) and in doing so I’d love people to join in and see if we can hit some comments in to the real heart of the game itself and hopefully, if we manage to string together enough coherent sentences we can all come out of the experience better off and equipped with more thoughts than we were before – a lovely scenario all round!
So in short folks – I have been a sporadic and shadowy figure in recent months (I thought of quipping about a Covert Ops Cloaking device at this point, then I shuddered and realised I am indeed a massive, massive nerd and I might activate my own gag reflex inadvertently in doing this) but this is changing. I am switching focus from other projects and back to the blog and I hope to bring you some fresh, tasty text for you all to enjoy…or despise, depending on your preferences…or maybe you’ll at least “tolerate” it? I just don’t know!
So, people – get thinking about PvE. Hate it? Love it? Want more? Ideas for more? Want it removed? Whatever your preference, whatever your calling – start thinking and await my next posting! Buh-Bye for now!
