New Server
I know I haven’t posted in a while but I’ve been busy looking for a job, spending time with the family and more recently… setting up my new VPS (Virtual Private Server). This is my first experience with a VPS so there has been a bit of a learning curve but overall it has been interesting and a great experience. I went through 3 different companies in a 5 day span. I got refunds from the first two and stuck with the third. I have to say I’m very pleased with the server I got from FutureHost. The first one I tried, Santrex was great but didn’t include a control panel like CPanel or Plesk. The second, VPSLand just flat out sucked. Be warned, do not purchase anything from them. I got a really great deal from FutureHost, more ram, bandwidth and CPanel/WHM included and also 4 IP addresses. I am completely happy with this setup. My server is running CentOS 5.3, this is my first experience with CentOS also. I have used RedHat, Ubuntu, Slackware and others but not CentOS. I am going to setup a test box on my local machine so I can get more familiar with CentOS before I go to changing things around on the real server.
