WAKEUP AMERICA, WHERE HAVE YOUR LEADERS GONE?

Considered arguably the most powerful position in the world, the conventional wisdom would be that the presidency of the United States would always be occupied by America's brightest and smartest, which America has in abundance. Sadly; decisions, actions, and countless embarrassing gaffes by the current occupant of the seat have left a lot to be desired.

I thought Americans have had enough six years of these embarrassing gaffes, dumbness and mindless display of superiority. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case, at least in the interim, if one considers the line-up of the mediocre presidential candidates, especially on the republican side.

Take for example congressman Tom Tancredo of Colorado. This man has in no uncertain terms threatened to commit mass murder by his declaration that he would nuke Islam's holy sites in Mecca and Medina if America were attacked by Islamic terrorist with dirty bomb. It is important to note these sites at any given time have over one million pilgrims and worshippers from all over the world; including American citizens.

Can anyone imagine a British parliamentarian and Prime Ministerial candidate saying he would nuke the Vatican if London were to be attacked by the IRA with a dirty bomb? Unfortunately, not only has there been no outrage; this man receives applause every time he makes those outrageous and sickening threats. Threats which could only come from a psychopath. This man is clearly America's Bin Laden and should be condemned by every civilized human being, and for that matter every American. It doesn't matter whether he is a long shot candidate, he is an elected congressman of the American government. How can you condemn the Iranian president for his crazy threats to wipe out the state of Israel and not condemn Tancredo for making similar threat? Where is your conscience?

Then there is Rudi Guiliani who a couple of weeks ago; in the presence of hundreds in attendance and millions watching deemed it fit to pause in the middle of an all-important speech to answer his wife's phone call. From all indications, it appeared that rather awkward and embarrassing moment was staged. If it wasn't then I doubt if the two are truly in love as he claimed. The fact is, if they were true lovers, she should have known his exact schedule and would have avoided that stupid spectacle which has exposed both of them to ridicule.

But whether it was staged or just a random call it doesn't matter. The bottom line is, the man lacks courtesy; and he is an embarrassment. His actions could only be compared to that of a grade three kid, and having watched him on numerous occasions, he has the potential of becoming worse than the current occupant of the White House. I therefore can't believe that, this mediocre candidate is still the front-runner of the republican party.

Furthermore, to think that he could potentially become the president of the United States, and therefore the most powerful man in the world is a very frightening development. Thank God the Soviet Union is no more, otherwise, the world would be sitting on a time bomb right now because of the wrong choices Americans have been making off late and the stupidity of some few morons in Washington.
