Grand Total
£33,257.61was the grand total raised by everyone taking part in Breast Way Round 2009. There's actually a bit more to add to that total, well, at least another tenner anyway. As I had a couple of sponsors who were late giving me their dosh. My little group did really well. Including our street collection, we raised over £4,000 towards the grand total. This weekend I'm off to Motherwell in Scotland where the cheque will be presented to Macmillan Cancer Support. More to follow ... Read Full Story
The End of a Beautiful Relationship
This is me in December 2008 picking up my brand new Triumph Street Triple R. It was the start of an amazing journey which, seven months later and almost 5,000 miles on the clock, is now over. Look how happy I am with the bike of my dreams. It felt like it was made for me. I became a better and more confident rider. I thought it would never end. I believed that there would never be another bike for me. It never crossed my mind that another motorbike would turn my head. I couldn't contemplate ... Read Full Story
NW200 2009 (Part 2)
What can I say? It was windy! If that wooden sign hadn't been there I would have ended up back in Chorley in no time. Who cares about the weather? I LOVE EVERYTHING about Northern Ireland so it matters not. The stunning scenery, the beautiful warm people and of course the best road racing in the world bar none. It was waterproofs all the way. Look at me and Andy, haha! I thought getting seats in the grandstand was a good idea. York Corner is a great spot, however the grandstand wasn't under c... Read Full Story
Ze Enz
My Dad was holidaying in France, staying on a lovely caravan site. A Dutch man approached him and asked, "How do you kill ze enz?" Thinking he was talking about 'hens' Dad quipped, "We ring their necks!" "No, no!" Said the Dutch man "Ze enz, ze little ones?" "Well!" Replied Dad "We just let them run around." "NO NO!" Said the Dutchman, looking rather confused. "ZE ENZ!!" (ants).I can just picture Dad, attempting to ring an ant's neck. Dear me! Read Full Story
Eee By Gum
My parent's friend was on holiday in Germany and was walking by a pond. He spotted someone fishing and shouted over (in a broad Wigan accent) to the man in his boat, "Nah, as tha coped out?" The man shouted back "Sorry, but I don't speak German!" Read Full Story
My Day Out with 'Billie' - 1 June 2009
'Billie No Mates' was my name today. And just how am I supposed to get good photographs of me in all the great places I visit, if I'm on my own? Take a look at the photo above! Ten second timer! Quick! Awwwwh! I wasn't ready! I WASN'T READY! AWWWWH! It was far too hot to don leathers today but I had to get out, so the full kit was worn and off I set. I decided to head for Glasson Dock and follow the route my pal Ben took me on, a few weeks ago, ending up on the back roads ... Read Full Story
The Best 'Trip' (The Fellas)
We couldn't have done it with out their support. Although they got much too much attention for my liking. Oh well! It was for a good cause wasn't it? Here's a selection of funnies ... Read Full Story
The Best 'Trip' (The Weather)
The weather wasn't kind to us. Although we did have a few dashes of sunshine along the way, it was mostly waterproofs for the whole trip. The photo above was taken in Fort William on our final morning, 25 May 2009. It might have added to our 'helmet-hair' but it didn't dampen our spirits in any way. By the time we got to Dumbarton the rain was gone and we arrived in George Square to warmer weather and an even warmer welcome. Read Full Story
The Best 'Trip' (Part 3)
Making friends and having fun. All for a great cause too. How can you possibly improve on that? I had a great bunch of people in my team and met more along the way. Biking brings all types together. The public were so generous too. It was such a thrill to ride around the West Coast, having people waving and cheering us along with big smiles on their faces. This year was better than last year, and next year will be even better. Bikers are the best. Read Full Story
The Best 'Trip' (Part 2)
Hosteling is NOT for me! NO WAY! As 'Hilda-the-German' appeared at the hostel door in Oban screeching "ZEEZE ARE YOUR KEYS!" I wondered "Why oh why didn't I pay an extra tenner and stay in a B&B?" If only my wax kit was portable, I could have made a fortune out of Hilda that weekend. We had hundreds of steps to navigate to get to our rooms on the top floor. Carrying our bike kit all the way. What a dump! But the walls of our seedy little room were covered ... Read Full Story
