Hi Again

Geesh, It’s been way too long since I’ve posted anything to this blog. Recently I had a conversation with my youngest daughter Kelsey. She is almost sixteen now but she has always had an interesting wisdom about her. Kelsey has been pondering religion and while I have been a Buddhist since before she was born, I have never tried to push her into my way of thinking. When she was younger she would see me meditating in my room and would occasionally think it was a fun time to come jump in my... Read Full Story
Bill Maher - Misogynist or Misanthrope?
| From : ambud.org
Published to Bill Maher
Ambud Buddhist Blog I understand that Bill Maher is a comedian and as such is generally given some leeway as far as stupid comments are concerned. Is this guy even funny anymore? Maybe a better question is, was this guy ever funny. Bill Maher sits in his self proclaimed ivory tower looking down on humanity while sharing his jaded, hateful opinions with an audience that is more likely viewing to see how Misog-o-diculous or Misanthro-diculous he’ll be, rather than for real comedy. I found... Read Full Story
Tiger Woods Turns to Buddhism
| From : ambud.org
Published to Tiger Woods
In tigers apology he speaks about Buddhism as his path to recovery and specifically about craving. It seems that he realizes that his craving for security or desire for the impermanent to be permanent has caused his behavior. At least he has some clue of his affliction. Read Full Story

I have been meditating semi-regularly and find it very helpful on the days that I do. It may be hard to imagine but I am actually busier now than while I was ‘Employed’ and meditation is definitely a must. Read Full Story
Hidden Buddhas

Hidden Buddhas gives us a pleasant yet disturbing view of birth, decay, and rebirth, the cycle of Samsara on the grandest scale. If there will be an end to the world as we know it then I hope that end does bring the ‘Enlightened Age’. Read Full Story

Thank You Brit Hume
| From : ambud.org
Published to Brit Hume
As in any controversy the opinions vary widely; from Barbara over at about.com to James at the Buddhist Blog. Some folks are offended, others seem to support what Brit said. Personally, I am about as interested in what Brit Hume had to say about Buddhism, as I imagine Tiger Woods is, and that’s not very interested. It’s not like Brit had some earth shattering insight that he shared with Tiger and the rest of the Fox News audience, it was merely a simple and ignorant remark supporting his own... Read Full Story
Happy New Year

I hope that everyone had a nice Holiday. Mine was very enjoyable; we had some family over and visited with my mom. For the most part, I didn’t think too much about work and all of the things blowing up around it. I feel like I have been buried so deep in every thing else that I have definitely neglected this Blog. I love writing this blog it helps me to keep a Buddhist focus. When I’m not writing, I am also not meditating as often as I want, and that typically means that I am probably not... Read Full Story
Unemployed Buddhist - Good/Bad?

We all understand that change is inevitable; this doesn’t seem to make it any easier. I am happy when I can manage to ‘keep my head’ in such a whirlwind, but lately, I find that I am catching myself lost rather than observing the moment, in the moment. Sometimes my mind tricks me into believing that this situation is different, that it’s ok to let my mind runoff exploring possible actions and consequences to deal with everything that is going on. It’s kind of like playing a game of chess with... Read Full Story
The Unemployed Buddhist - Enemies

It doesn’t require a lot of insight to see that Stan and I were not ‘Best Buds’. Looking at this paragraph now, it becomes very obvious to me that I had allowed my mind to create a monstrous concept of ‘Stan’. I had assigned all of the negative characteristics of the universe to this one, poor sod. Read Full Story
