With Halloween right around the corner, the first thing that comes to my mind is candy. I can think of two stores that we have in downtown Waynesville with delicious confectionery. The Mast General Store has barrels full of candy for you to pick and choose from. Fill your basket with whatever you want and then take it to the cash register. It's that time of year again when the summer is winding down, the kids are going back to school, everyone is trying to get that last vacation day in and the county fairs are raring to go. A couple of weeks ago the Haywood Regional Health and Fitness Center presented the Lake Logan International Triathlon and Sprint Triathlon. Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast was fortunate to house many of the competing athletes.  The International Triathlon consists of a 1500 meter swim, 24 mile bike and 10k run. Our herbal garden at Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast has been taken over by the basil beast. Usually it keeps a low profile, but this year it's out of control. I have had to become very creative with what to do with this fragrant herb. Besides my normal plate decorating, I have been making lots of pesto. One of the first questions our guests ask us when they arrive at our fully restored 1902 bed and breakfast in Waynesville, NC is "where do we eat?" So what exactly is this geocaching anyway? I've been reading about it for the past couple of years and it sounds like a real adventure. Sort of  like orienteering in the 21st century, but instead of a compass you use a GPS...technology.
